Small jobs welcome

"I had surface mold on the ceiling in my bathroom. Chris and his crew were incredibly professional, meticulous, and the price I was given was very fair. I could not be happier at how my bathroom turned out. I know this was a "small job" for them, but they gave this exhausted, overworked, single mom of 2 little ones some peace that at least this headache was taken care of. When I'm ready to start working on the rest of my house, I will definitely be calling them again."

"I highly recommend this company. I was given a great price and all work was done perfectly. I have an 18’ ceiling that was also painted which required scaffolding to do it. Alberto and his team took great care to protect my wood floors while using their scaffolds and the work was done quickly and cleanly. No drips, all paint lines were sharp and straight. My house was spotless when they left. Needless to say… I was very impressed with their work. I will be using them again in the near future and suggest that if you need painting to give New Sunrise Painting a call."

"Fantastic - Eugene Miller, the owner, took the job because it promised to be difficult (!). The house had not been painted in a long while; there was work needed to prepare the siding; it was the middle of fall. Most impressively, the peeling and roughened wooden garage door had to be done three times until he was satisfied. He was up-front with all estimates; provided good advice for color and design; his team worked fast and hard; he was proud of the work at the end. We will have him back. He said he doesn't do any work that he doesn't know how to do well."

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

Darker walls may make tight bathrooms appear even smaller, but one dark accent wall can really make a bathroom pop. Wallpaper with a dark background can add intrigue and sophistication. Still, if you’re looking to open the room up and give it a modern, airy feeling, light colors may work best for your needs. Although there are some popular and unpopular opinions, there’s really no “should” when it comes to personal design choice.

The color of the paint, its opacity, and the depth of the texture on the paper all affect how many coats of paint you need to apply to paintable wallpaper. You'll need at least two coats of paint to ensure even coverage. Don’t be surprised if you need to apply three coats if the embossing is very deep or if you use a dark color.

Yes, you can apply peel-and-stick wallpaper over wood paneling, but it requires significant preparation for a good result. Peel-and-stick wallpaper has a weaker adhesive than traditional wallpaper and works best on smooth, non-textured surfaces like painted or primed drywall. Because wood paneling is often textured with grooves, any flaws in the underlying surface will likely be visible after application. To prepare the paneling, you must ensure the surface is free of cracks, holes, and protrusions by filling any indentations and sanding rough spots to create a smooth surface. An alternative is to remove the paneling and apply the wallpaper directly to the underlying drywall or plaster, provided it is in good condition.

Deciding between a lighter or darker accent wall depends on the effect you’re going for. Choosing an accent wall in a lighter color will make a room feel brighter and more spacious and complement rooms with less natural light. A darker accent wall will add drama and depth to a room and help make larger rooms feel more cozy and intimate.

If you prefer peel-and-stick to traditional wallpaper, you can skip the priming process. Many manufacturers don't require an additional primer if you’re installing peel-and-stick wallpaper to painted walls. However, if you’re applying peel-and-stick wallpaper to unfinished drywall, you’ll need to apply a primer first.
