Customers say: Quick response

"Anthony was very attentive to my project on an old building. He sought out a safe and viable solution to change out an old fuse box and relocate with a new breaker box. He was quick with a response to my request, inspection and quickly gave a solution with a quote. Once I accepted, he scheduled my work right away. He was also prompt on the day of installation and did the work professionally and quickly. I recommend A & A Electric and I would even recommend Anthony to my family and friends. - Pastor Jeff"

"We have an old house and we were struggling to diagnose a problem that kept causing the power to go out in a couple rooms. The previous electrician gave up after an hour and suggested that we might need to rewire the whole house. The Cannizzo electrician was thorough and tested multiple areas in the house. He eventually identified and fixed the problem, which was just a loose connection in a junction box in the attic. The electrician did miss the first appointment, and had to reschedule, but the owner was apologetic and professional. He explained that 2 employees had called in, which happens. I just would have liked a little more notice so I wasn’t sitting around waiting."

"Despite a -12 windchill, Kevin and Jose sent a notice 30 minutes before their arrival and got to work immediately. They were both extremely courteous, professional, knowledgeable, and industrious. The project was extensive but they managed to keep power interruptions to an absolute minimum. Considering that the generator project required work involving gas, electric, and internet, their presence in our small house went almost unnoticed. I would absolutely recommend them. Great work!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In Canandaigua, replacing outlets or switches typically takes 1–2 hours, while installing ceiling fans or light fixtures may require 2–5 hours. Larger projects like panel upgrades or generator installations often span 1–2 days, including inspection time. Whole-house rewiring can take up to a week. Permit processing and winter weather conditions may extend timelines, so plan accordingly for seasonal factors.

Helpful?

If your Canandaigua home experiences frequent breaker trips, flickering lights, or outlets that spark or feel warm, it’s time to consider electrical upgrades. Homes over 25 years old or those with outdated two-prong outlets often need updates to meet local code. Planning renovations, using many extension cords, or noticing burning smells near panels are also clear signs to schedule professional electrical work.

Helpful?

Electrical systems in Canandaigua benefit from monthly GFCI outlet tests, quarterly checks of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and annual professional inspections. After harsh winters, inspect outdoor outlets and equipment for weather damage. Each fall, prepare exterior connections for cold weather, and in spring, review for any winter-related wear. Staying proactive with these tasks helps maintain safety and code compliance year-round.

Helpful?

Begin by confirming which permits are needed for your Canandaigua project and arranging inspections at key stages. Select a licensed local electrician familiar with area codes, and coordinate with utility providers for service upgrades. Schedule work for spring or summer to avoid weather delays. If your property is in a historic district, check for extra requirements, and always budget for code-compliant upgrades.

Helpful?

Canandaigua homeowners should keep a non-contact voltage tester, multimeter, wire strippers, and insulated screwdrivers for basic electrical maintenance. Stock up on wire nuts, electrical tape, GFCI outlets, LED bulbs, and surge protectors. Batteries for smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are essential. In winter, have outdoor-rated extension cords and generator cables ready, plus ice melt to safely access exterior electrical panels during storms.
