"We had a large area of brush and stumps that need to be cleared, graded, top soiled, and seeded. I also had some landscape trimming to do around my house. Within a few hours of posting this job, John Rio was at my house. He listened attentively to my needs, asked clarifying questions, and gave me a verbal estimate right on the spot, followed by a written estimate. His price was very fair considering the scope of work. John showed up when he said he would, did the work with efficiency, His team was focused on my complete satisfaction and went the extra mile when some large rocks had to be removed, and several trees felled. I am very pleased with the result. Iâ ve already hired Next Generation to do a second job."

""I switched over to Salt City Lawn Care in 2019 and boy am I glad I did. They did a fantastic job with weed treatment and greening up our lawn. I now have the best looking lawn in the neighborhood. They provide fast friendly service but best of all, there were NONE of those aggravating, never ending, phone calls with sales pitches for treatments I don't want or need. I'm definitely in for 2020 and beyond!""

Small jobs welcome

"Caleb did great job clearing a very large, heavy pile of dirt we had. He responded back to texts in an appropriate time frame. Was on time for job and completed the job and didn’t leave until it was done to our liking. Very reasonable price. Will reach out to him again when needed. Thank you Caleb!"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

You should exercise care when deciding how to landscape over a leach field for your septic system. You typically want lightweight materials that won’t damage the drain field’s perforated pipes. When adding plants to the area, select plants with shallow roots, such as grass or flower gardens. Trees with deep roots could damage the pipes in the field.

If you live in an area with heavy rain or you like the idea of an extra layer of cushion under your feet, you may want to consider adding additional layers under your grass. There are pads that are purely for comfort and ones that can help accelerate drainage for those heavy rains.

Hedge plants are available in almost every size, from seedlings to fully mature, six-foot-tall shrubs. Planting smaller plants is much easier and more cost-effective. However, it can take years for the plants to reach maturity and create a full hedge. Garden centers and specialty retailers sometimes offer three to four-foot wide plants that you can simply plant next to each other for an instant full hedge.

When planting, it's best to leave several feet between a house and a juniper bush. Many juniper varieties will become quite bushy and require space to grow. Juniper branches that come into contact with siding can damage the home's exterior over time. Also, some juniper bushes have aggressive roots that can put pressure on a home's foundation or basement walls.

If shade is a priority for you, then panting elm trees is a fine choice. A full mature elm tree has enough aesthetic appeal for some folks that it could add value to your home.

That said, never plant elm trees too close to your home, sewer line, or sidewalks, as their roots can damage these, which can lead to costly repairs.
