"Clay is very good at communicating and making sure you are satisfied. His helper was polite and friendly and I was comfortable having them in my home. The end product was very good and their clean up spot on. I would hire them again and recommend them to friends."

"Trevor Brown was great at removing a hefty snow pack from my roof. He was able to get the job done within a day of my speaking with him. Very thorough and careful, checking in with me during the project to make sure any concerns were addressed. He did exactly what I needed, and cleaned up afterwards. Reasonable pricing, honest and diligent. I highly recommend Precision Renovations."

I am someone who is trying to start a business. I’ve been in and around the construction industry for 20+ years, mainly doing commercial residential construction. I want to build something of my own where I feel my work can be noticed. I travel anywhere within the greater Rochester region. I look forward to meeting with you. Thank you

"Bill and his team were very responsive, punctual and kept their work areas immaculate.  They cleaned up every day.  I have already given Bill's name to several of our friends who are looking for painting and handyman work.  With the three projects we worked with Bill and his team for the entire summer and early Fall. This Spring he will return to build a deck off our back sliding door.

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Covering your deck with a breathable tarp can protect it from snow, ice, and cold winter temperatures. This is a good winterizing solution if you don’t plan to use your deck at all during the colder months. However, it might be best to skip the tarp if you’ll still be walking on your deck or using it in a limited capacity.

PVC decking might be long-lasting, but this synthetic material lacks the natural aesthetic or sustainability of wood decking. If you want to match your decking to your new garden furniture or just freshen up the faded surface, it’s not usually possible to paint PVC decking. When comparing PVC to composite decking, PVC is pricier and more prone to warping in hot regions.

Floating decks are a cost-effective and versatile option, but they come with some compromises. Since they sit on smaller footings instead of being deeply anchored, they’re more likely to shift over time, especially in areas with heavy rainfall or freeze-thaw conditions. Their low-to-the-ground design makes them more susceptible to moisture buildup and potential water damage.

Yes, snow should be removed from a deck to protect it from damage caused by moisture and heavy loads. Shovel the snow off of your deck regularly once it is more than four inches deep. Avoid using salt, which can damage your deck.

Yes, you can draw your own deck plans in many cases. However, you must know your local building codes and be familiar with carpentry principles. Even then, it's always best to run your plans by a professional contractor with experience building decks, whether you choose to DIY some of the build or not.
