"Gary and crew of three arrived early every day and got the project done ahead of schedule. Gary was on-site for the entire project and resolved unexpected issues after wallpaper removal. He even went the extra mile and painted an upstairs hallway that adjoined a space that had wallpaper removed. He said it just wouldn't look right if that was not painted. Cleanup was thorough and even had trash out at the curb in time for pickup. Highly recommend DeLuca Painters!"

Small jobs welcome

"Karl did an interior paint job of our bathroom, stairway, and nursery. He made the process extremely seamless. He was great with communication and took the time to understand our vision for the job. He worked efficiently and paid close attention to detail. After the job was completed, we came home to a clean and organized house just as we had left it. He made the home and nursery perfect for bringing home our baby girl! Highly recommend!"

Customers say: True professional

"Gage was phenomenal and professional. If you have an opportunity to support the small business owner, please do so. The job was quick and efficient and will have Gage come back to paint our garage. I had all of my shutters and front door painted. He does interior paint jobs, stairwells, and pays attention to the details."

Small jobs welcome

"I hired Haley recently to do some painting in my home. Not only did she paint for me, she repaired some holes in the wall, fixed my ?shifting? floor, fixed the draft in my kitchen when she found a huge gap between the wall and window and she?s putting some shelves in my kitchen. She is very knowledgeable about a lot when it comes to the home. I will definitely.be calling her again! She is an awesome handy woman! Give her a call, I promise you will not be disappointed!!"

"Overall -- quality materials and solid installation. It took a couple of tries to get an estimate, but once I had that in hand, along with a little web homework on gutters and leaf guards, the choice was easy. The installation was a breeze, and the guys even hooked up my rain barrels at no extra charge. The gutters look great and work well in heavy rain. I expect the leaf guards will do as well over the long run. I gave only 4 stars for "Value for Money" as the job was on the expensive side -- it was our middle estimate, not the cheapest, nor the most expensive."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

It is not always necessary to remove old stain before restaining a deck. If the previous stain is in good condition and is compatible with the new stain, you may be able to apply a new coat after thorough cleaning. However, if the old stain is in bad condition, flaking, or peeling, it is best to remove it completely to ensure an even surface and proper adhesion for the new coat. Staining over a damaged layer can lead to an uneven finish and poor penetration. For best results, test a small area first and consult the stain manufacturer's guidelines.

Staining a deck with a rag is typically a better option than using a brush, as it helps the stain penetrate deeper into the wood. However, both brushes and rags are best reserved for detailed work because using these tools on an entire deck can require tediously crawling around on your hands and knees. A pad applicator, sprayer, or roller are preferred alternatives to applying stain over the majority of a deck. Use a rag for railings and other detailed work, and let the wood soak up as much of the stain as possible before wiping away drips or pools.

Hot, intense sunshine can cause your stain to dry too quickly, which could lead it to look uneven or patchy. If you’re staining the deck during hotter months, it’s best to do it in the morning or evening once the wood has had time to cool down. If you’re staining in cooler weather with less sunshine, the time of day won’t make as much of a difference.

It’s a good idea to sand your porch before painting. This will remove loose or chipped paint and debris, and give you a cleaner surface so that your new paint goes on smoothly. But if the existing surface is in good condition, it’s not necessary to sand your porch before you paint.

Yes, you must thoroughly clean your deck before staining. If you don't, dirt, debris, grease, and mildew can get trapped between the wood and the new stain. This not only looks unsightly but also prevents the stain from penetrating the wood properly, reducing its ability to protect the deck from weather and UV rays. As a result, the stain won't last as long or look as good. Any existing mold or mildew left untreated can continue to grow beneath the new stain, potentially leading to wood rot and structural damage. Always wait at least 48 hours after cleaning for the wood to dry completely before applying stain.
