We are a small engine repair shop. We fix and maintain all gas powered equipment. We get Landscapers in and out in a timely manner, so they can continue to work.

"Awful experience, owner is insultingly unprofessional. After failing to give me a timeframe of completion after a week I call to check on my mower. Only to have the owner tell me I’m wrong the he said they had been telling everyone 2-3 weeks. Now about 6 weeks later I get my mower back I had to call them several time to check in I was give zero updates! I was over charged by over $100 from quote! Hands down the worst service I have ever received."

Kevins power equipment repair is operated by Kevin Muntz, a long time outdoor power equipment technician. I have a small shop located in Pine Bush NY. I work on a wide range of machines & concentrate on doing thorough repairs for all my customers. I want my customers to be happy & have a reliable great running machine when they have a repair done, & always remember me when they need something in the future. My labor rate is very reasonable & my prices are great compared to many bigger dealers. I do all the repairs myself & have low overhead cost, so I pass the savings on to you. I evaluate every machine & give you the best advice for the repair. I am very trustworthy & honest I will tell you if it’s worth fixing or if it may be too costly. I have service specials on snow blowers in the fall & winter, & lawn mowers in the spring & summer. I inspect all parts of the machine looking for any problems that may occur in the future. Preventive maintenance is the key to fewer breakdowns during the seasons. Pick up & delivery available.

"It went extremely well. Kevin came to my house and picked up my 400+ pound gas generator and brought it back to his shop for repair. The cost of the repair was very reasonable. He was very responsive and a pleasure to deal with. I would highly recommend his services to anyone in need of small engine repair,"

Lawn Tool Repair questions, answered by experts

The cord you pull to start a lawn mower is commonly called the “starter cord” or “pull cord.” This uses and internal combustion process to start the lawn mower engine and it prone to wear and tear over time. You’ll want to check the starter cord as part of your regular lawn mower tune-up process.

The best and safest way to deal with used motor oil is to bring it to an approved facility to be recycled and refined into new material. You may see recommendations to use old oil as an equipment lubricant or wood stain, but using it in these ways can be dangerous, messy, and environmentally irresponsible.

A standard home lawn mower with sharp blades can handle a thin layer of leaves without issue. You may need to make a couple of passes within several days to mulch leaves down, but your mower shouldn’t struggle. If your mower comes with a mulching kit, like an attachment to blow leaves out the side, that’s a good sign it’s ready for fall leaves. Set your mower to the highest or near-highest height for this project so it focuses on the leaves rather than the grass below.

Costs depend on mower type, labor, replacement part needs, and severity of the issue.

Lawnmowers require seasonal maintenance to continue working correctly. With routine maintenance, you can extend its life to the fullest, which is around 10 years for push mowers and 5-8 years for riding mowers. To keep your lawn mower working correctly, you’ll want to take the following steps at least once a year:

  • Replace the spark plug

  • Change the oil

  • Drain the fuel tank

  • Clean the mowing deck (ideally, after every mow)

  • Replace the air filter

  • Check the carburetor

  • Sharpen the blades

  • Fog the engine

  • Check the tires
