"Anton was easy to work with. Sent email on a Sunday. He called in five minutes and came that afternoon to look at the job. Replaced baseboard in four bedrooms and repaired a hole in the ceiling. All work was completed in two days starting that Monday. The carpenter that did the baseboards (I think his name is John) was great, neat and did a wonderful job. I will definately call Anton again. "We ran into a few kinks with time, but it was well worth it. My coffee table came out beautiful. Customer service was great, we were in constant contact with each other. He is very much a man of his word and takes a lot of pride in his work. Mike also repainted two other pieces of furniture for me at no cost, to make up for my coffee table taking longer than expected. I would definitely use mike again and recommend him to others."

"Thanks to his expertise in carpentry, masonry, plumbing, and installation, Joe Rossi corrected a botched kitchen installation of another contractor. He also installed a new tile bathroom - shower - vanity - toilet, making the most of a small space. He also intalled a new water heater and washer/dryer unit, as well a wall-mounted heater/AC. In another house adjacent, Joe Rossi removed a crumbling stone porch and replaced it with a new stone porch/ steps, with a sturdy metal railing around, getting my property more curb cred. For each project, Joe Rossi gave his full attention to all details in a timely and professional manner. He kept me updated about each project and explained what needed to be done and how."

"Wanted to remove metal spiral staircase for a wooden built-in custom look. I had a picture in my head on what I wanted and the look. Doug made that come to life. A Solid and rustic look is what I wanted and that's what I got, so much better than the metal staircase. Without a doubt a pure craftsmanship. If your in the market for a staircase, look no further, Doug at Prosperity Stairs & Rails, Inc is the man for the job. Steve L."

"Mike did a great job prepping and painting the interior of my living room and kitchen/dining as well as some additional touch ups. He also built, painted and installed new window trim, and a doorway saddle as well. I felt pricing was fair and he was very professional. Would work with him again."

Woodworking questions, answered by experts

No, you do not usually tip a carpenter for their work. However, if you’ve been very happy with the level of service and quality of work, a 10% to 20% tip would likely be accepted with thanks. If you’re not sure, it can help to discuss the carpenter’s policy or preference for tipping before beginning the project.

There are several mistakes you should avoid when using butcher block countertops. Don't place hot pots or pans directly on the surface, as this can crack the wood and cause permanent damage. Avoid leaving wet items sitting on the surface, and wipe up liquids as soon as possible to avoid stains.

Yes, many repair services include blade sharpening as part of the maintenance package.

Carpentry is a skilled trade and requires many years of experience to acquire the skills necessary to do the job efficiently and correctly. Because every home requires a carpenter at some stage of the building process, carpenters are typically in high demand. The higher the skill level, the higher the hourly rate the carpenter can charge.

If you don’t have a coping saw, you can use an angle grinder to cope crown molding, but it takes a little more precision. Place your molding down on your workbench, angle the grinder at a 45-degree angle toward the molding, and back cut the wood. You’ll need to carefully angle your grinder to accommodate the curves in the wood, and aim to remove around 1 inch from the profile of the molding.
