"I was told by a plumber it was probably a squirrel or raccoon nest. I called two places, this place gave me an angie's list discount and was $300 cheaper than the other company I called. When they came they told me that it was a plain old birds nest and they removed it and the price charged was $200 dollars less than the squirrel removal. So overall, they came quickly, did a great job, checked the dryer vent and the chimney and prices was so much less than the next company on the list that I called. I would absolutely use them again."

"Bug Johnson is an effective raccoon control company, good customer service also! They eliminated my raccoon problems and returned my backyard to me. Highly recommend! Although it is not cheap, it is reasonable comparing to other animal Control companies that want upfront fees before even catching the raccoons."

"What a wonderful experience working with James and Louie from Empire Wildlife Control. I received immediate callbacks, feedback, and total professional assistance in ridding my attic of a squirrel family and repairing all that was damaged expertly. From our first meeting and throughout the process to the final conclusion of the project, their knowledge, expertise and workmanship was top notch. I would not hesitate to hire them as they are totally worth every penny. Thank you!!"

Bird Control questions, answered by experts

Woodpeckers peck at the break of dawn and take a break whenever the sun is not shining. On sunny days, expect pecking from dawn to dusk. On cloudy days, expect sporadic pecking when the sun peeks through. These birds are most active in the spring; you’ll hear them drumming as soon as the weather turns warm.

Fake owls are a common goose deterrent decoy and one of the most humane ways to scare away geese. Unfortunately, some geese are wise to fake predators. Decoys can be more effective if you move them around frequently or purchase ones with motion features. Decoys that move in the wind are also more effective than stationary decoys.

Finding a dead bat in your home can be frightening, even during spooky season. The United States Department of Interior states that if you find a dead bat, take these steps:

  • Contact your state wildlife agency to report the finding

  • Photograph the bat safely to help the wildlife agency determine the species

  • Use disposable gloves to place the bat into a plastic bag, making sure to spray with disinfectant and close the bag securely

  • Thoroughly clean your hands and any clothing that came into contact with the bat

If you see one dead bat, you might have a large bat infestation that needs to be treated immediately. Call a local pest control company to properly inspect your home for other bats.

Some of the plants listed above, like daffodils, are poisonous to many animals if eaten. But wild animals instinctively avoid them, for the most part. Household pets don’t always have the same survival instinct, which is why it’s a good idea to familiarize yourself with common plants that pose a danger to cats and dogs.

Trees that provide a habitat to bats and an abundance of bugs—their main food source—will attract bats to your yard. Because the North American landscape has changed so much in recent years, bats have a harder time finding trees with cavities to shelter in. If your yard has a dead or dying tree with a lot of sun exposure, bats will likely be drawn to it because trees with those features are less common.
