"With our current situation in Rochester with the virus, I did not expect to have the job of clearing basement drain addressed in the same day I called. I assumed I would begetting on a list for sometime in the future. Instead John said he could do it in 3 hours. Efficient, cleaned up after and paid in 1 hours time."

"Since just about everything in my house was tinkered with by DIYer type previous owners, I wasn't surprised when the work turned out to require more than "just" replacing the circuit breaker, panel and the service line. But Mike was great, gave me a great price and kept me apprised of any developments. When I hire someone to do work, I look for someone who knows what they are talking about, does quality work, doesn't skimp, and stands by their work and actually seems interested in doing the work, and doesn't talk down to me. Not only did Twin City Electrical fit the bill, but he also happened to have the best price. Additionally, his workers cared not just about getting the job done, but also making sure it looked great and they cleaned up well after themselves."

Small jobs welcome

"Cellino did an excellent job. After calling five plumbers to fix a shower head spewing hot water and none of them could come for 4-5 days. I got hold of Cellino who came in a few hours and corrected the problem. The tech was very knowledgeable and had the job done in no time. Excellent job and of course 5 stars. Had I waited I probably would have had a lot of damage to my bathroom."

"Knowledgeable, dedicated to the project now matter obstacles, i.e. hired to replace 42' of 55 year old clay waste tile. Had to deal with recently cut large tree removing stump, gas line recently installed somewhat On top of a water line on top of the waste line 7.5' deep...and then 5 hours of rain. The only organization to use for such a plumbing job. Thank you to all involved."

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

A small amount of diluted bleach is okay to pour down a garbage disposal. As part of your weekly garbage disposal maintenance, use 1 teaspoon of bleach with your concoction of ice cubes and lemon peels. Turn on the disposal and run the water until the blades chop up the ice cubes.

Any more bleach in your disposal can harden oils and greases in your drain, which can cause problems. Always wear gloves when working with bleach, and know that you really don’t need bleach at all—vinegar, baking soda, salt, and ice should do the trick.

Even if the shower drain doesn’t seem clogged or dirty, plan to clean it out about once per month—or more frequently if you or your family shed a lot of hair. It’s a good practice to remove any hair from the drain on a daily basis, as hair can accumulate fast and cause clogs in no time. You may also want to have a plumber thoroughly clean the drains in your home once every six months.

Food grease, soap buildup, paper products, and tree roots often cause serious clogs.

Coke and other sodas do clean a clogged drain, so this is one of those urban myths that has some truth behind it. Coke and similar sodas are caustic and will provide some cleaning power to your drains. However, the power of soda pales in comparison to dedicated cleaners or even baking soda.

Biodegradable drain cleaners use naturally derived ingredients, such as baking soda, vinegar, and boiling water, which bacteria and other microbes can break down. Unlike conventional cleaners that rely on corrosive bleach (sodium hydroxide), biodegradable options are gentler on fixtures and less harmful to the environment. Because they don't release harmful gasses, they are also safer to use, especially in households with children, and do not require the same safety precautions as bleach-based products.
