Small jobs welcome

"I tried very hard to find someone to do a small paint job for me and everyone I called either didn't want the job, or accepted the job and didn't show up. I was referred to Jessie and he went out to take a look at the job same day. Less than 24 hours later, the paint job was completed and looked great! He was extremely professional and fast -- something I have found very hard to find today. I would definitely contact him again for future maintenance/handyman type issues."

"I received a call from Juan of Barrios Handyman Services minutes after I placed my request for service. He came out to provide me with an estimate within an hour and a half. His estimate was very reasonable. He came out the next morning and completed my task within a few hours. He did an excellent job! I would not hesitate to hire him again!"

Customers say: True professional

"I can not begin to express how happy I am with the service I received from Shawn. He was fantastic, He was on time, professional, very skilled and so friendly, He could not have treated me better if I had been his very own grandmother. Everything he worked on was done to perfection. I will have him visit my home over and over again. I have not stopped talking about him and the wonderful service I received since he left. I will be telling everyone I know and even strangers in line at Walmart and Home Depot to make sure they visit B and L for the best service in Las Vegas. Thank you Shawn and Lola for doing such an awesome job!"

Emergency services offered

"I had 3 quotes from different companies and Precision Granite came in with the best price and project timeline. Demo crew came on time and was respectful, timely with the demo and immediately installed the countertop. Plumbing was installed two days later. Crew laid drop cloths to protect my floors, vacuumed inside the area's where they worked and made sure my yard, where the demo trash was cleaned up. Pictures here show countertops after installation. They did a beautiful job. I already got a quote from them to possibly upgrade my tub/shower to a walk-in shower. Great price. Would definitely recommend."

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

If a light switch is off, it’s very unlikely to cause a fire. For a fire to start, the switch has to be on, activating an electrical current, and the wiring must be faulty. However, the malfunctioning light switch could cause an intermittent current to move across the electrical wire. This issue could become a fire hazard with another device connected to the wire. You should replace the bad light switch as soon as you notice it or call an electrician.

You might be able to turn a normal door into a fire-rated door, but you’re better off purchasing one that meets all NFPA 80 standards. If you want to DIY a normal door into a fire door, you’ll need a self-adhesive intumescent seal, metal hinges, fire-resistant glazing, and a self-closing device, but you’re always better off buying a certified fire door.

Yes, you should seal and cap an unused chimney to protect it from damage. Sealing the structure helps prevent moisture damage, which can lead to issues like cracks, spalling, efflorescence, and damaged mortar joints. Capping the chimney is also crucial to prevent blockages, damage from invasive critters, and downdrafts, while still allowing for proper air ventilation to manage moisture. For the best results, consult a chimney professional to select the right type of chimney or flue cap for your home. It's also wise to continue with annual chimney inspections to maintain the structure's integrity.

Baking soda is an effective fire reduction method. However, flour and baking powder are very dangerous around flames. Flour is flammable and it can also conduct electricity. The combination can cause serious injury from electrical shock and worsen the situation by adding fuel to the fire. Baking powder is also not an option as it's also highly flammable.

No, it is not safe to use an outlet that sparked. A spark from an outlet could indicate a short circuit, loose or frayed wiring, or other serious damage. Continuing to use an outlet that sparks can increase the risk of electrical shock, electrical fires, and other hazards. It's important to turn off the power to the outlet at the circuit breaker if possible and avoid using the outlet until a licensed electrician has inspected and repaired it.
