"On Deck Fence Co. did a great job! They were prompt in installing a privacy fence for our tenants. The fence is the best constructed in the condo units. I will definitely call Douglas and On Deck Fence Co. again with any other jobs I have for fencing or landscape work."

"Everything went perfectly. This is a wonderful company -- friendly, professional, efficient -- all this and very reasonably priced. I am very happy with the way they kept my yard so clean after cutting down my dying junipers."

"Saul is as perfect as they come. Most other business's can learn a lot from him. Always on time, does exactly what you ask of him, leaves your property clean. He replaced an entire vinyl fence for me in bad weather and did an excellent job. The wind blew down different portions of my wood fences and again he had to fix them in cold bad weather... what a guy! He goes above and beyond to do the absolute best job for his clients and I appreciate him more than he can imagine. Any time someone I know needs a new fence, or one repaired, I tell them to contact Saul if they want the best."

"I couldn?t be more impressed with the service I received from CS Construction. They recently installed a large mirror in my space, and the entire experience was seamless from start to finish. Their team was punctual, professional, and handled the installation with absolute precision. The attention to detail was outstanding everything was perfectly measured, leveled, and securely mounted. They took great care to protect the surrounding area and left the space spotless after completing the job. What really stood out was their professionalism and commitment to getting it right. The mirror looks incredible and instantly elevated the entire room. CS Construction clearly takes pride in their work, and it shows. I highly recommend them for any installation work. Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

For the best results, stay off of your deck for at least 48 hours after sealing it. Giving the sealant at least two full days to cure ensures it can fully penetrate the wood, giving you the most protection from sun and weather damage later on. Walking on the deck too soon can prevent it from properly curing and cause your deck to weather prematurely.

The life expectancy of deck boards varies widely based on the material, climate, and maintenance. Untreated wood boards typically last 10 to 30 years with proper care, while pressure-treated boards can last up to 50 years. Hardwoods generally outlast softwoods. Composite boards also tend to last longer than natural wood. Environmental factors like arid or humid climates can shorten a deck's lifespan. To extend the life of wood decking, it's important to consistently clean and seal it to protect against moisture, UV light, and insects.

The proper and most comfortable height for a deck stair riser, also called a step, is between four and seven inches. A height of seven inches is often considered ideal for a strain-free step that minimizes the risk of trips and falls. While it is possible to have risers up to 12 inches, this height can be challenging for children, pets, or individuals with mobility issues. For optimal safety and comfort, pair a seven-inch riser with a tread depth (or run) of at least 10 to 12 inches. Always check your local building codes, as they may have specific requirements that differ from these general recommendations.

Pavers are a great decking option for pools. They’re customizable, come in a variety of shapes, sizes, colors, textures, materials, and price points, and they’re slip-resistant. Concrete pool decks, on the other hand, are harder to repair and replace if damaged and aren’t as slip-resistant as most paver materials. However, not all pavers are equal in terms of durability, maintenance, and performance. Pavers also have their own cons that may encourage homeowners to opt for stamped concrete instead, such as higher upfront costs.

The best direction for a gate to swing depends on its location and purpose, but swinging inward is the general rule. An inward swing is often considered safer, prevents the gate from opening into public spaces like a sidewalk, and may be required by local building codes.

There are exceptions and specific considerations. If your property is on a slope, an inward swing might not be possible. For a deck gate, it's safest to have it swing away from any steps. In a backyard, the direction can be a matter of preference, though an inward swing can be helpful when carrying heavy items like a wheelbarrow into a garden.

Regardless of direction, ensure the gate can open fully without hitting any objects or blocking spaces. While an inward swing is standard, a gate that can swing both in and out offers the most flexibility if your setup allows for it.
