"Sasha was excellent! We had to request her services after a home construction. We needed dusting, cleaning, & sanitizing of the whole house and carpet steam cleaning. Glisn is the only cleaning/housekeeping service we found that could deliver carpet steam cleaning as well. We were fortunate to find an all-in-one stop shop. In addition to finding an all-in-one, her level of communication and services were above and beyond. She provided high quality attention to detail of everything that we had requested. I will utilize Glisn's services again for the near future and recommend to family and friends. Thank you Sasha!"

"Provider was very, very nice. He did all rooms to satisfaction. I was hoping the carpets would look a bit fresher, but that isn't necessarily his fault. I liked that there were no harmful chemicals. He was professional and considerate and I would call again.

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

Installing carpet tile takes a pro a few hours per room, while experienced DIYers may take a little longer. However, that does not factor in the time needed to remove the old carpet. Also, if there are issues with the subfloor, fixing it will add to the overall time it takes to complete the installation.

No, thick carpet padding isn’t necessarily better than thinner padding. The appropriate padding thickness will depend on the type of carpet and the amount of foot traffic in the area.

For example, thick padding works well in low-traffic areas, like bedrooms, where you have soft and plush carpeting. However, thick carpet padding can damage low-pile carpet, which is used in the busiest parts of your home (like hallways and entryways). For that reason, it’s best to use thinner, heavier padding underneath carpet in high-traffic areas.

Carpet is most often affixed to the floor by tacks in tack strips rather than nailed or glued directly to the subfloor. The tack strips are nailed to wood subfloors. Even if you want to install carpet over concrete, you’ll adhere the tack strips to the concrete with masonry nails or a liquid adhesive.

It is not recommended to install or stretch a carpet without a power stretcher. Skipping essential tools like a power stretcher and a knee kicker will likely result in an improper installation, leaving you with wrinkles, creases, and an unappealing final look. While a knee kicker can provide some limited stretching for thinner carpets, it is not a proper substitute. Attempting to stretch a carpet by hand or with homemade tools can also shorten its lifespan. For the best results, you should buy or rent a stretcher. If you do not want to use a stretcher, it is better to hire a professional for the installation.

You may get better coverage painting your baseboards if you do so before carpet is installed. The best course of action may be to attempt to paint them between having the old floor removed and the new floor laid, though this will render the room unusable for a period of time and may make the entire project a bit slower overall.
