"Cesar and his team were phenomenal! They were prompt, respectful and kind. They trimmed the trees and hauled the branches away. A lot of work for a good price! We loved the service so much that we hired them again to build a fence in our front yard. We will probably use them for even more work around the house."

"Alex, created a flagstone patio in back wirh 2 pathways. He put flagstone on my front steps over the ugly concrete steps. He moved an apple tree and planted a tall Aspen which is doing well. I have photos but am having trouble loading them."

"Mr. Montoya met me at my house, the project site to give me a quote on the day and time he said he would. We talked about which trees needed to be cut down and trimmed up. Leroy gave me a quote for all, we agreed to move forward with the project with a day and time of arrival. Mr. Montoya arrived at said time, did the work agreed upon, cleaned up as he went about, left with the downed trees and limbs. I couldn’t have been happier with the project. I am recommending Montoya Tree Service, Leroy Montoya. Very Professional."

"Small crew along with owners did a great job with a spring cleanup, which included cutting back large sunflowers, trimming bushes and trees, and removal of all of the green waste. When extra tasks were identified, like moving some flowers and installing small fencing needed to control rabbits, team went above and beyond. Pricing structure was fair and communicated up front, and conversation throughout was professional, instructive, and most pleasant."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

In some states and municipalities, you will need a permit to remove a tree on your property. In many cases where permits are required, a tree must reach a maximum height before a permit is required to remove it. You can either ask your local building department or a tree removal professional if you’ll need a permit. If you do, you can expect to pay between $50 and $150 for the permit alone. Your tree removal company should pull the permit for you and include the permit fee in your total.

When a palm tree no longer produces new fronds and old fronds start turning yellow-brown, that’s a sign the tree is dying. However, transplanted palm trees can show these signs for the first several months as they re-establish themselves. It’s best to keep watering and not give up on the palm tree until a couple of seasons have passed and you’re sure it’s not coming back to life.

Yes, it is essential to confirm that any tree service company you hire is properly insured before they begin work. Tree removal, trimming, and pruning are dangerous jobs, and proper insurance protects you, your home, and the company from liability in case of accidents or damage. Look for a company that carries both general liability and workers’ compensation insurance, and do not hire one that cannot provide proof of coverage. When browsing for professionals, you can look for indicators like an “Angi Approved” badge, which signifies that the business meets standards like holding applicable licenses and passing a background check. Keep in mind that a license is a legal requirement to operate, while certifications are typically voluntary.

Carefully pruning small roots no thicker than three inches in diameter won’t harm the tree. However, cutting larger roots may impact the tree's stability and nutrient absorption. It's advisable to consult an arborist or tree care professional to evaluate the root's size, the tree's health, and the potential impact of cutting. Proper tree pruning techniques and timing can minimize damage, but larger root removal may necessitate expert guidance to avoid compromising the tree's overall health and stability.

Palm trees are unique in that their roots don't grow straight down; they grow horizontally. Typically, palm tree roots go down between 12 and 36 inches deep. The roots grow far and wide from the base of the palm tree to absorb as much water and soil nutrients as possible. In addition, the horizontal roots are also very strong—keeping palm trees stable and helping them sway during storms.
