I had them paint my house trim and garage door a different color from the stucco. He did such a professional job, the house looks brand new! If I every need more work done I would hire them again. It’s possible to paint certain drop ceiling tiles, including those made of plastic, metal, and wood. Painting fiberboard ceiling tiles is technically possible, but the results rarely look appealing, so it’s best to replace them with new tiles, especially given how affordable they are. If you do paint your drop ceiling tiles, it’s a good idea to use a paint sprayer and a rapidly-drying paint to avoid drips. Latex paint is often a good choice, especially if you thin it and apply it using a sprayer.

First and foremost, don’t skip the prep work. Even if you have the steady hands of a surgeon, mistakes happen, and they can potentially be catastrophic. Also, never underestimate how much paint you’ll need. Returning to the store is enough of a pain, let alone the streaks and uneven color you’ll get if a half-done wall dries before you can finish it.

Unless you’re using a 2-in-1 formula or painting over an existing coat of paint, it pays to apply a coat of primer ahead of your new paint. Decks see a lot of footfall and exposure to extreme and sudden temperature changes and moisture levels. The primer promotes better paint adhesion, moisture repellency, and a smoother finish, which means you’ll often need fewer coats of paint. 

While we can’t stop you, we don’t recommend using ceiling paint on walls. Ceiling paint is designed to be flat and less durable, which means it won’t stand up well to scrubbing or regular contact. It’s often limited in color selection. If you’re painting a low-traffic area, such as a closet, ceiling paint might work in an absolute pinch. But for most walls, it’s worth using a more durable, wall-specific formula.

Paint costs anywhere from $10 to $100 per gallon on average, depending on the type of paint, brand, quality, and more. Primer costs the least, while exterior paint tends to cost the most. Premium brands like Sherwin-Williams®, Benjamin Moore®, and Rust-Oleum® come in as the priciest paint brands, while Diamond Brite®, PPG-owned Glidden®, and Sherwin-Williams-owned Valspar® are some of the lowest-costing paints.
