"They arrived on time, they treated my home as if it was their own home. They replaced my furnace and air conditioning unit. The technicians Ceaser and Daniel showed me how to operate the new system and ensured the new system was operating properly. I called them and they came out the next day to inspect my old system to let me know what I would need and the next they were at my home to replace my old central air and a new furnace. I would definitely recommend NCB Mechanical for any work that you would need for your heating/cooling systems"

"Excellently. I should also mention that they have also been maintaining a 55 year old hot water radiator system for several years. Their work has always been professional, prompt, helpful and pleasant."

"These guys are awesome. Ruben responded quickly and was able to get a tech out within hours. Juan the technician identified and fixed the problem quickly, and at a great price. Juan spent time answering my questions and showing me how to improve the efficiency of my system with proper cleaning. I am going to use them again for some duct work. Great customer service."

"The installers did a great job removing old system and installing the new system in the garage along with the A/C system on the roof. A very neat job and a great clean-up afterwards. The installers were knowledgeable of the systems and made sure I was pleased with the work! I will continue to use Albuquerque Plumbing and Heating Company my home plus have them do my Daughters house too!! The technicians in this company are also trained to install & repair tankless hot water heaters too!!"

"Title: Exceptional, trustworthy plumbing — highly recommended Galactic Mechanical & Plumbing exceeded every expectation. After a frustrating runaround with other companies, Jordan drove up from Albuquerque to Santa Fe, waived the trip charge, and quickly diagnosed that I only needed a faucet fixture (not a full sink). He went to Home Depot, installed the new fixture, fixed a few other small issues, and left everything working — all billed fairly for one hour of labor. Jordan was professional, efficient, and honest; Megan in the office was courteous and helpful. As a longtime local with two homes, I’m already planning to use Galactic as my go-to plumber. Highly recommend them for reliable, respectful, and skilled service. Thank you, Jordan."

Central Vacuum Systems questions, answered by experts

The best way to clean central vacuum pipes is to use a maintenance sheet to dislodge clogs and wipe the inside of the pipes clean. Alternatively, a professional can clean your central vacuum pipes for you.

They’ll use more electricity than the average upright vacuum, but not remarkably more. Most power units plug into a standard 120-volt outlet and don’t have significant power demands. You shouldn’t notice an increase in electricity bills. If you have any specific questions about energy costs, ask your installer as you examine purchase decisions. Larger power units will need more electricity for their suction levels.

Before deciding whether or not to install a central vacuum system, consider the pros and cons to determine if it’s right for you.

Pros

  • Increased suction power

  • Improved air quality

  • Reduced noise pollution

  • Longer lifespan than traditional self-contained vacuum units

Cons

  • Higher upfront installation costs

  • Expensive repairs

  • Requires significant storage space

Common repairs for central vacuum cleaners include motor repair, electrical repair, and blocked filters. Central vacuum motor issues typically come with a burning smell and loss of suction. With these issues, you might need simple lubrication to keep it running smoothly, or for more extreme problems, you could need a motor replacement.

Electrical problems or losing suction strength, might be reasons to swap out electrical components for new ones. However, a local central vacuum repair professional can tell you the best plan of action for your system.

Maintaining your central vacuum cleaner is crucial to extending its lifespan. Ensuring the filter is cleaned or changed often is vital to ensuring clogs don’t impact your motor. In addition, inspecting motor brushes regularly and lubricating the engine when needed helps keep it in tip-top shape. Finally, cleaning the central vacuum hose of dirt and debris helps keep clogs at bay, especially if you’ve vacuumed something wet or sticky.
