They came to service my Lennox Mini split system and told me all three heads were leaking. The tech held up some hand held sensor he held up to each unit that supposedly indicated this, which may have been bogus in hindsight. They said they had to order internal parts and replace the coils, etc. They said it would cost $3500 and needed half of that too proceed. I was sceptical but they were certified Lennox repair so I went with it. I called Lennox, which Brothers didn't offer to do, because the units were still under warranty. Lennox ended up sending new units to replace what I had. I called the guy in charge at Brothers to get the labor reduced since they didn't have to spend as much time taking each unit apart. It didn't take long to replace the units with the new ones. The guy I talked to was very nasty about it and would not budge on the quote. We had a very heated argument over the phone but I thought I got him to agree to adjust the price down if in fact his workers didn't end up spending that much time as originally anticipated, which ended up being the case. In the end they charged me full price (they had my credit card}. Needless to say I got taken advantage of.

The service man worked for several hours to fix the system in the heat so my 89 yr old mother could have a cool house again. They were able to fit us into the schedule even though some other companies had a two week wait.

After 3 visits the issue has still not been resolved. One visit they were there for several hours and the owner told us they would give us a credit. When we called them again to come back out we mentioned that we had a credit. The receptionist told us that she would have the manager call us back, and we never heard a thing.

Things started off good: came out in a timely manner, received quote quickly, they were able to get unit installed in 2.5 weeks at the peak of our heat wave. However, the unit they installed had been damaged. No mention of this was made to me when I talked to them over the phone on the day of install. My mom happened to go outside to watch and noticed large dents on the side of the unit. They assured her it was all superficial and not to worry, still no one notified me. When I got home, I could see the dents from the ground (roof top unit). Decided to wait, figured there would be a credit on my bill for damaged product. Received $200 credit for damage and thermostat (they didn’t install a new one since current one fine). I thought that was insufficient compensation on an $8000 project. However, was busy getting ready to go out of town and figured I would call when I returned home. But then they charged my credit card 2 weeks after receiving bill for the remaining balance without my permission or discussion with me. I was on vacation with no cell service and now credit card being rejected. Pretty furious they did that (and I think illegal). Had to drive to find cell service and called to have them cancel the charge on my card, since 1) hadn’t planned on using credit card for remaining balance, and 2) disagreed with remaining balance. Interrupted what should have been a stress free family vacation. When I returned to town, no phone call from them. Called after 1.5 weeks of not hearing from them. Was informed they had ordered a new panel for the damaged unit and should be here any day. I was a bit confused since no one had talked to me about this, and I was still concerned about a damaged unit being installed. Continued to play phone tag with one of the owners. When we finally touched base, was made clear no additional financial compensation would be provided and I shouldn’t worry about a damaged unit as they were sure it was only superficial. I don’t know about you, but when I pay almost $8000 for something, I expect it not to be damaged. They came out and installed a new panel, again, without discussing with me. Was also told they would send me a check for $75 for the thermostat. Was quite surprised to then get a bill with the $200 credit removed, to be replaced with the $75 amount. When I called to say I thought a mistake was made, was told no, credit removed since they installed the new panel (which again, never asked me if I wanted nor told me they would remove the credit). Was told I was just determined to be dissatisfied and the balance would remain. Due to the lack of communication, charging my credit card without permission, installing a product they said they damaged and refusing to provide any compensation, and then being told I just wanted to be dissatisfied are the reasons I cannot recommend Brother’s Electrical to anyone.

"This customer has a on demand water heater used as a boiler. It is not the proper application whatsoever. It is an illegal installation. Brothers made every effort to help this customer get "lemonade" out of her lemons but the frank and simple fact is that it needs to be abandoned and replaced with the proper type of system. The only appropriate solution is, unfortunately removal and replacement with a proper boiler. This is no simple matter in the building in question. The remodel required to make this heating system proper and up to code would easily exceed $10,000. Unfortunately this customer was taken advantage of severely by the installing contractor and she is justifiably upset by the situation as it persists years later. The installation application and condition of her system is deplorable. While sympathetic to this customers circumstance Brothers did not create the situation she is currently saddled with."

Tony Brothers, the owner of the company, met with me twice and explained the process in a way that it made sense.  He and his electrical guy, Frank, checked out my system and worked quickly to get it up to code.  There were two crews of workmen -- the two guys who did the electric work and the two guys who installed the ductless system.  All were great -- hard workers, friendly, professional and, best of all, effective.  They did their work very very well.  I would HIGHLY recommend these people and this company to anyone.

They were very professional, prompt, clean and organized during install.  Everything was done on schedule.  Everything works great.  My problem was the communication after everything installed and they were paid in full.  The owner's son was who we dealt with for
estimates and contracts.  I told him that our next door neighbor had recommended their company.  She spent $14,000.00 getting a new install refrigerated a/c and replacement furnace.  He said they would have to make sure she was rewarded for recommending them.  A week or so later, she called them for yearly service that was $79.  She mentioned that they said they were going to reward her for recommending them to us, they told her they don't do that.  I called the son I had dealt with and he told me the same thing.  I reminded him that he was the one that said they would reward her, he grudgingly offered a measly $12 off of her service call!!!  What cheapo gives such a paltry "reward" when between us we had spent over $32,000.00 with them.  It seems to me that they really don't value
recommendations.  He was very rude to me and told me that it was none of my business, it was between my neighbor and him.  I was embarrassed because I had told her about the reward and then she got hassled.  His demeanor had completely changed from sugary sweet when he was selling to snarly and grouchy after he got the contract and got paid.

After a year of really bad experiences with heating/air conditioning companies, our experience today with Brothers was a night-and-day difference. Making the appointment went smoothly, and the technician, Jeremy, arrived on time. He is so knowledgeable, and was careful to explain everything we asked in great detail. First, he changed our HVAC filter. He found that the technician who replaced the filter several months ago had pieced together a make-shift filter that did not filter the air and caused the coil to fill up with dirt, which could have damaged the unit. After explaining to him that we weren't getting much hot or cold air blowing out of the ducts, he went down into the crawl space to look around. He came right back out and told us he'd found the problem - the main duct was laying on the ground in two pieces. It had never been connected. So, basically, for the past year we have been paying to heat and cool our crawl space!! He put the duct together, and what a difference! And, for all the work he did, the price was very reasonable. We will definitely give them our business and recommend them to others.

Unfortunately, we find lots of disconnected ducts, just wasting energy in attics and crawlspaces, even on newer homes. It's very nice. The workers were very quick. It took them a couple of days to get everything put together because we had to have some electrical work done and it had to be up to code. There's a lot more than we have got in doing that because we live in an older house. They were very professional and very helpful. They explained thoroughly about the system and it's a very good system. What I like about it is it has something in it that maintains humidity in the house. In the summer, the humidity will be up to 40% and you have a selection if you live in a dry climate, moist climate or a moderate climate so we set it for dry and that maintains certain humidity so it's very nice. It doesn't dry you out. Their price is a little higher but the guarantees on it are better than what we found from another system. We had a problem with the thermostat so we called them at 8:00 in the morning and they were here at 8:30 to show us how to rectify that. They are very good and very responsive. You paid for a good system and they are going to service you. They are very punctual. They wanted to get in and get it done. I would recommend them.

They worked to fit me into their schedule, but they missed their scheduled arrival time by around 1/2 a day. The job to replace the old water heater was a challenge because of the prior setup in my older house. They met the challenge and honored the price of the bid. But, the one doing the majority of the work made it clear that had he been the one pricing the job, his bid would have been hundreds of dollars higher.

Very professional and friendly up until the day they were doing the install of a new return air duct on the roof for the HVAC system. Things started out okay but degenerated into them pulling most of their team off the job (they said due to some other job that had come up last minute) leaving one man cursing and throwing sheet metal and tools. The flashing they installed around the new duct work has leaked in both of the places it enters the roof. One end of the return air flashing failed in the first year, the next just now - this one resulting in the entire utility room ceiling to need replacement. Both roofers who worked on the different sections said each issue was due to improper installation of the flashing. Each time we've called Brothers with issues they have been defensive and have turned the situation into things that we have done wrong. This last time the owner said he would come now while the roofers were here. He came, talked to one of the workers outside without coming in to talk to us at all or letting us know he was here. He called afterwards and said the worker mentioned a plugged canale in the area and thus it was our fault for not maintaining our roof properly and he would not warrantee the work on their flashing. The owner of the roofing company told me the leak was clearly due to the flashing being installed without scraping the roof clean before installing it. Perhaps they get good grades from others here on Angie's List, but of all the many many tradespeople and service companies I've dealt with in fixing up our older home these last 2 years, they are the only company that I have written a negative review for and that I don't ever want near my home or person again.

The first week I moved into my house, my hot water heater would only fill up a third of my garden tub. They came and gave me an estimate for a Rinnai. I knew I was going to live here for many years, so I wanted something I had owned in another house and that would last. Well, they did an excellent job installing it. They were very courteous and professional. It works great! They also fixed my Bryant heater on one of the coldest winter days only a couple of days after Christmas. Came out and fixed very fast. I really like all the sons and the Dad. All great people. All the people in the office are really nice, too.
