Surprisingly, cleaning an air bath is almost as easy as relaxing in one. Most air baths have a self-cleaning or drying cycle to remove moisture from the inner tubing. There are a few ways to check whether your tub is fiberglass or acrylic. If your tub is a color other than white, then your tub is likely acrylic (as fiberglass tubs are usually white). Check to see if there is discoloration on the bottom of the tub, because if it’s yellowed, then you can be fairly sure it’s fiberglass.

Also, fiberglass tubs have thinner edges and are cool to the touch. Acrylic, on the other hand, is either room temperature or warm to the touch.

When buying caulk, look for ones labeled for tub and tile. These have either acrylic latex or silicone compounds. This allows the caulk to stick to smooth surfaces and prevent mildew from forming. 

The difference between resurfacing and refinishing is that refinishing only works on solid surfaces that are in good condition, whereas resurfacing will restore a cracked or worn surface to its original, blemish-free state. Refinishing will leave you with a smooth and glossy surface you can’t get from resurfacing alone. If that’s the look you’re going for, contact a local concrete finishing contractor to achieve it.

Two alternatives to reglazing are installing a bathtub inlay or a bathtub liner. An inlay is a low-priced mat that adheres to the bottom of a bathtub or shower. It’s useful for sealing minor leaks and concealing damage on the bottom of a tub. On the other hand, a bathtub liner is essentially a protective casing that goes over the entire tub. They are usually custom-fit and cost more than reglazing yet don’t last as long.
