"First of all, most contractors give you an estimate without charging, and this really was nothing more than that.  When he looked at the area to be remodeled, he gave me many more options than in the final plans, and it wasn't what I needed.

"We needed someone to install tile around the bathtub at an apartment unit we own. Joey at 2 Daughters Handyman came to the rescue. He quoted us a fair price based on what we could see. However, once he started the work other complications were discovered such as mold behind the existing wall. Joey and his crew were able to take care of each issue and charged us a fair amount for the extra work performed. We were very impressed with his willingness to get the job done in a timely manner. He even went to two or three places on his own to find the tile we wanted. We will definitely use 2 Daughters again and would recommend them to anyone needing his services.

Repair Bathroom Tile questions, answered by experts

Before any physical work begins on a bathroom remodel, the first and most crucial step is planning. Start by developing your design ideas and deciding which fixtures and features you want to replace versus what you'd like to keep. Once you have a clear vision, you can begin sourcing and purchasing your new materials. For any project, it is also highly recommended to consult with a contractor to finalize the details and plan before starting the demolition phase.

The first thing to consider when converting a tub into a shower is whether you’d like to simply change out the tub or undertake a complete bathroom remodel. If you’re unsure, reviewing bathroom remodeling ideas can help you decide whether you’re satisfied with your space or could use a change. From there, decide if you’ll handle the job yourself or hire a pro, and then set a budget.

Undertaking a bathroom demolition might seem achievable for a DIY enthusiast, but it's a substantial endeavor that works up a sweat. Before diving into the teardown, it is essential to acknowledge the associated risks and complete the necessary preparations, including permits and a plan for waste management. From gathering the right tools to ensuring utility shut-off, these measures are vital to a successful outcome and mitigating potential pitfalls.

To make a bathroom look bigger, choose light-colored, medium- to large-format tiles. Light colors such as white, cream, or light gray make a space feel more open, while dark colors, busy patterns, and small tiles can make a bathroom feel smaller. It may seem counterintuitive, but small tiles can shrink a room visually due to the increased number of grout lines. Using medium- to large-format tiles creates a more seamless look. For the best effect, pair your light-colored tiles with a matching or similarly colored grout. This minimizes the grid-like pattern and gives the floor and walls a more continuous, uninterrupted appearance, helping the room feel significantly larger.

A steam shower is a modern luxury that can be quite attractive to potential buyers. According to Zillow, listings with a steam shower fetched a 29% higher sale price than those without it. It all comes down to the market, and ROI is never guaranteed. Consider the value along with how much you’ll enjoy a steam shower, and weigh that against the price tag.
