"I had problems with them. They did it for me last week and they actually attempted to over charge me substantially and I just got off the phone with the office manager. We worked that out and I said you know the advertising he was running on Angie's List was very deceptive I thought and he did not mention what the full price was and so I believe On Angie's List he's mentioning it for I believe the price was like for $52.17 for $100 of work, he actually attempted to charge me $550 for it. I spent about half an hour talking to the office manager and  \he did not realize I guess on his side that it was very deceptive and I explained to him that in my own house I actually had two other vent cleaners clean out my vents during the past six months and both of them charged me roughly $100 for the job, and so I was expecting the same price roughly and so I was shocked when I got the bill in the mail. He got some minor work on it and the total cost he was trying to charge me was $750. But when I finished talking to him he understood where I could have misinterpreted what the deal was and so I told him myself that he probably need to go with the person who is actually running the ad for Angie's list to verify how much the service cost, what it entails and all that stuff, because it was extremely vague."

"Adam and Freddie arrived at the scheduled time to clean the air ducts. They checked out the vent locations and brought in their equipment to clean. They were very careful not to get the carpet dirty by wearing booties and putting tarps down. They cleaned out all the air ducts, cleaned the vent covers, and the filters in the heater. We discussed how to get the most efficient use of the heater and decided to put the intake filter in a better location for easier access to the filter. The guys were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely use them again and highly recommend them.

"Rick and Dave are great! We have used their services since 2003 and have been happy with all of their work.
In 2003, we lived in a single level, flat-roofed home that had in-floor ductwork. The ducting system collapsed. After obtaining many estimates, we decided to go with Custom Air to create a new duct system on our roof with a combo heat/cool unit. We were extremely pleased with their work, pricing and warranty. We have recommended them to several people in the last 12 years, and no one has been disappointed!
The latest work was a furnace replacement in our current home. Once again, we were extremely pleased with their work, pricing and warranty.
You can't go wrong calling Custom Air!

Air Duct Cleaning questions, answered by experts

No, a vent is where an HVAC duct enters into a room to deliver conditioned air, and a damper is a valve that can open and close to restrict airflow to the vents throughout your home. Some HVAC vents have manual dampers on them that let you control the airflow to specific areas of your HVAC system, but dampers can also appear on the hidden ductwork or near your air handler for more precise temperature control and energy efficiency in your ductwork.

A blocked return air vent can cause your HVAC system to work much harder and, therefore, less efficiently. The result is higher utility bills and poorer air quality. A blocked return air vent can also cause unpleasant dust, dander, and odors to linger in your home’s air.

The frequency for cleaning air vents can vary. As a general guideline, you should inspect and clean your return air vents at least once a year, while a more thorough cleaning of all vents is recommended every two to five years. However, you should clean them more frequently if you notice a significant buildup of dust or debris on the vents, see mold growth, find signs of a pest infestation, or notice an unusual amount of dust accumulating on your furniture. More frequent cleaning may also be necessary to maintain good indoor air quality if household members have allergies.

To determine if an HVAC or vent damper is open or closed, locate the handle or lever on the outside of the ductwork. Typically, the damper is open when the handle is in a horizontal position, parallel to the duct, and closed when it is in a vertical position, perpendicular to the duct. If you can see through the damper, it is open. You can also test for airflow by waiting for your furnace or air handler to turn on and feeling for air coming through the vent.

The only immediate step you need to take after the air duct cleaning finishes is changing your furnace filter. It’s likely to accumulate some dust and debris during the cleaning process. There’s no need to replace the filter before the cleaning starts, as a dirty air filter won’t affect the cleaning process. Regularly replacing your air filter is one of the best steps you can take to keep your air ducts clean in the months after a pro cleans them. The pro should clean up any mess left behind and reattach all the grates.
