"I switched from another company to Security One, they use the same equipment. They had to come out and recode everything. I simply switched because of the financial benefit. I have only had them for a few months, and I haven't had any problems with them. They save me some money every month.  When my alarm went off, they did call me."

"It was easy to install and so far no complaints. We had one mishap where our fire alarm went off and triggered the house alarm. Front point called immediately and helped turn the alarm off. They replaced the fire alarm very quickly. We're happy with them."

"This is the second time that I've used the company, and the service was good as usual.  The technician that came out was friendly and personable and did a thorough cleaning.  Considering the scope of the work, I feel as though we paid a good price."

"There were many things wrong in my computer (my fault and letting grandchildren on computer) Robert was so helpful, gave me many good instructions to keep everything safe, which I have written down, feel like I have a new computer. He was so excellent and experienced, took his time and was meticulous about what needed to be done. He was a pleasure to work with and I will use this company again! Linda Disy"

"In dealing with the "Retention" department on 17 April 2014, I had requested cancellation of service due to a move. Though all parties, except for one individual, remained customer friendly, the company was slow to respond and I had to keep on them to process the request. Further, during telephone communication with Protect America, I asked if I would be charged another month and they verbally told me no. A few days later, come to find out the company had already taken the normal monthly fee out of my account and would not refund it. I continued to request a refund of the amount for which we should not have been charged and they abosolutely refused. For a company to keep money for which services that were canceled is another way of steeling a persons hard earned money - no matter how small. Do yourself a favor and stay away from companies that operate like this. I absolutely will NOT recommend this company's services to anyone in the future! As of 29 May 2014, according to Josh Cooksey in the Customer Care Retention Department we are going to be reimbursed accordingly for what should not have been taken out. Thank you to both Josh Cooksey & Brian McMurrey's department for working with us to resolve this issue. If service is needed in the future we may reconsider."

Fire Sprinkler Companies questions, answered by experts

Yes, spider webs are flammable, taking them from minor household nuisance to something more dangerous. Silk boasts no built-in resistance to fire, though it takes an abundance of spider webs to actually catch fire and spread. A cobweb here and there poses no major fire safety risk, so it’s not a cause for concern.

Absolutely! Smoke alarms are lifesavers. According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), per 1,000 reported home fires, homes without working smoke alarms have a death rate nearly twice as high as those that do have working alarms. So remember to ensure you have enough installed in your home and that they are working and in good shape.

Certified fire door inspectors should inspect fire doors. These professionals receive training to specifically assess the condition, functionality, and compliance of fire doors. They often hold credentials from groups like the Door and Hardware Institute (DHI) or the International Fire Door Inspector Association (IFDIA). While fire marshals won’t usually do hands-on inspections, they’ll check that doors are being maintained properly during routine safety audits. If a building relies on fire doors for code compliance, it needs someone who understands the details—the difference between a cosmetic issue and a safety failure—and standards to sign off with confidence.

Yes, it is generally safe to have a fire pit on a deck, but you must adhere to building codes and take several safety precautions. For both built-in and freestanding models, you must use a heat-resistant barrier, such as a fire pit pad or heat shield, between the pit and the deck. Additionally, consider the weight of the fire pit and ensure your deck can structurally support it, reinforcing it if necessary. The fire pit must also be positioned a safe distance from your house, particularly from materials like vinyl siding, to prevent heat damage.

You should never block both the top and bottom of your chimney. Proper airflow is essential because the temperature inside the chimney will still fluctuate as your house warms and cools. Moisture can build up without ventilation, leading to dampness in your walls over time. Blocking the top prevents debris and animals from entering, but the chimney still needs air circulation to avoid condensation issues. Allowing the chimney to breathe maintains the health of your home and prevents long-term damage.
