"Gary is fantastic and I would highly recommend him! We had a bird nest in our attic and Gary was very responsive and went the extra mile to resolve the issue. In a span of a week he had to address the issue multiple times as many birds were stuck in the attic. Each time Gary was timely and addressed the issue with no extra cost or fuss. His experience came through as he installed a one way door to give the birds enough time to escape."

"Was very thorough and explained exactly what needed to be done to remove mice from property as well as preventative measures. Insisted on going in the basement and he was right because the mice were getting in from some holes I didn't realize gave access to the mice. The only reason I didn't rate the price an "A" is because I was hoping to pay under $200.00. However I was not disappointed in the service and he did deserve to be paid the full price quoted at the time of service."

"We had a sugar ants problem that we tried several remedies to eliminate with no success. Arkadia applied safe pest control treatments inside and around the perimeter of our home which is a concern since we have pets. No ants have returned.

"In October 2015 we had seen chipmunks in our garage and some mouse droppings in closets and kitchen, and we heard some loud noises in the wall connecting to our garage. We assumed they were chipmunks but also had found some mouse droppings so knew they were around also but didn't know where they were getting in.
They came out a few days after I called. The guy was on time and very friendly.  He checked many areas I would not have thought to check looking for clues as to how they'd gotten into the garage. Turns out there was a hole in the retaining wall of my driveway that was allowing the chipmunks access to the garage. He installed a one-way opening so they could get out but could not get back in, and set 3 traps (have-a-heart traps).
He told me to release any chipmunks I caught in the woods at least a mile away and showed me how to open and set the traps. I did not catch any chipmunks in the traps, but after about 2 weeks stopped hearing noises in the walls. I think the one-way exit worked.
My only complaints are that 1)  I had to call them to come back to pick up the traps. I would think the traps are expensive (maybe that's why it cost me $350?) but the guy did say they would come to pick them up in a month or so.  They are scheduled to come out next week to get the traps. And 2) the Big Deal ($149) I purchased didn't cover all the rodent exclusion stuff they did. I realize they did more than just set mouse bait, and the problem was resolved ultimately, but it was quite expensive in my opinion.

Bird Control questions, answered by experts

No, you shouldn’t have to worry about bats in your yard as long as they don’t make their way inside your house. Typically, bats hang around backyards in order to consume bugs, especially if they’re located in the U.S. Bats that are native to North America can consume more than 500 bugs per hour, so they may actually benefit your yard if mosquitoes are prevalent.

Animal removal specialists specialize in removing critters and wildlife from in and around your home. These include:

  • Bats

  • Birds

  • Groundhogs

  • Moles and voles

  • Opossums

  • Mice and rats

  • Raccoons

  • Skunks

  • Squirrels

The specialist's method to remove these critters will depend on the animal. For example, groundhogs will be live-trapped and relocated, whereas, for birds, the expert will remove and discard the inactive nest and sanitize the area.

Identifying the specific animal running on your roof at night can be challenging without direct observation. Common nocturnal roof visitors include raccoons, squirrels, opossums, and rats. Raccoons are bigger and can create heavy thumping sounds. Squirrels are agile and may produce rapid scurrying noises. Opossums tend to move stealthily with less noise. Rats can make scratching or gnawing sounds. To determine the culprit, look for signs like footprints, droppings, or damaged areas near the roof. For accurate identification, consult a pest control professional or set up wildlife cameras near potential entry points.

Trees that provide a habitat to bats and an abundance of bugs—their main food source—will attract bats to your yard. Because the North American landscape has changed so much in recent years, bats have a harder time finding trees with cavities to shelter in. If your yard has a dead or dying tree with a lot of sun exposure, bats will likely be drawn to it because trees with those features are less common.

Once the animals and their young are out of the house, remove the nest and locate any entry points. Some may be difficult to find because some animals can fit through very small holes. Once you’ve located as many entry points as possible, use materials such as metal or masonry to block off the entry. Ideally, you should choose materials that most animals cannot chew through. Create a one-way door or flap to allow animals to leave but not return. Additional methods include using repellants designed to make an area unappealing to the types of animals that find your home so inviting.
