"We cannot recommend this company. They did an adequate repair on a small part of our roof that was flat but then we had then replace a section of our conventional roof- shingles and skylights- and it was a disaster and leaked in four places. The roof eventually needed to be totally redone and the new roofer documented many mistakes including using the wrong materials, inadequate preparation, and incorrect flashing, Andre Ferreira did not have experienced workers on the job and when we asked him to return and fix the leaks, he did not show up."

Chimney Repair questions, answered by experts

Copper roof strips can last for 20 to 30 years or more if properly installed—in many cases, they may outlast your roof. Inspect your roof annually to ensure copper roof strips remain properly adhered and undamaged, and repair any loose or lifted strips. With very little upkeep, copper roof strips can protect your roof for decades to come.

To maintain metal roof health, schedule regular inspections, clear debris from gutters, and check for signs of corrosion.

24-gauge metal is thicker and will stand up better to impact, so it’s a better option for roofs that will see heavy snow and ice accumulation, hail storms, fallen tree debris, and blown debris. It’s a more expensive option, but it’s worth the added cost for roof longevity in extreme climates. If you live in a more moderate climate and don’t have trees overhanging your roof, 26-gauge metal is suitable and is a more affordable option.

The average cost of welding is about $300 per project. Welding project costs range from $125 to $490 on average, depending on the type of metal, the size and complexity of the project, and your geographic location. On the low end of the price range, you might pay $50 up to $1,200 or more. The type of metal rods used and the welding method also factor into the project’s overall cost.

Whether you should repair or replace your roof boils down to the scope of the damage. If you need to replace more than 20% or 30% of your roof, then it’s probably a good idea to just replace the entire roof, as leaving older sections up can leave parts of your roof open to more issues. By replacing your roof, you can have peace of mind that no pesky leaks are sneaking into your home.
