"Dan and his team at Proven were excellent. Had a Foreman on sight to oversea the entire job the entire time. Was shown first hand from above by Drone how things were getting done. Truly amazing process and when the roof was completed, our grounds were left undisturbed? With Proven you get Peace of Mind and that matters most. I'd recommend them and only them. "We called Heartland Handyman Services for what we thought was just to paint 2 rooms. Javier showed us there was much more involved. With little to no effort at all, he showed us that the room's window was not seated and secure. The window sill came off with a little tug. Inside the wall were signs of water leaks. In the other room, the floor had been damaged and since it could not bear any weight, we could step through the floor. Heartland had to open up the outside siding, repair the exterior wall, reseal the siding, reseat the windows, insulate the walls, besides the original plan to paint the 2 rooms. He also had to reinforce the outer wall, repair the underflooring and install a new floor."

"Everything went very well. I thought they were a little on the high side cost wise but I was pleased with the work they did. I paid an additional cost of around $700 because they recommended I cover the replaced board with aluminum, it’s like an aluminum siding trim. I still thought it was too high a trim for 2 garage doors. They did a good job. They were on time and they showed up for the estimate and for the work exactly when they said they would. The one day we had bad weather, they called to cancel ahead of time. The only negative thing was a little difficulty with English, there was a little difficulty having conversation. On the appraisal, they did bring somebody with them that spoke fluent English but when he was here and he was trying to explain some of the things he wanted to do, he didn’t know the exact words. But the quality of the work was very good."

Siding questions, answered by experts

Vinyl is the most common shingle siding due to its rigid PVC design, longevity, affordability, and ease of installation. The next most popular types of shingle siding are fiber cement, which is in the mid-range for prices, and cedar shake, which is the most expensive. Consider the upfront cost, ongoing maintenance costs, and durability in your specific climate before deciding.

Yes, cedar is a popular option for shou sugi ban siding, which is a Japanese style of charring wood for a home’s exterior to finish and protect the material. Cedar shou sugi ban siding costs $15 per square foot on average, but ranges between $2 and $25 per square foot depending on your home’s size, the price of labor, and where you live.

The best siding to cover brick is vinyl or metal siding. Vinyl is low maintenance and affordable, while metal is highly durable and offers some of the best insulation on top of brick. Fiber cement is another great option. Though you can install wood siding on top of brick, it’s not as ideal.

Vinyl siding will fade slowly over time but will likely be most noticeable starting 10–15 years after installation. This timeline varies based on factors such as the climate where you live. In areas with more extreme hot or cold conditions, vinyl is likely to fade more quickly.

Clapboard is considered to be eco-friendly, as it is mostly sourced from sustainable natural resources and it has insulating properties. Clapboard is more sustainable than vinyl siding materials, which are made of plastic. Clapboard made from fiber cement can also be considered environmentally friendly. This material mimics the look of wood without the impact of deforestation.
