"I never thought I would ever write a positive review with contractors. Top Pros completely replaced my old wood deck with composite. The detail and customization of the job was impeccable. As a customer who pays extra attention to minor details I can honestly write this to say thank you to Eric for building my deck, he used quality materials even new wood to drop a dumpster on my driveway was shocking. Eric was always on time, went beyond my expectations and always backed up his work. Don't think twice hire Top Pros it will be hard to find the friendliest, amazing prices and quality work from a local contractor. This is a real review from a real customer who is never 100% satisfied!"

"I hired Marco and his crew for repair of my 20 year old deck. Job continued for a total of three weeks. Each day i had 4 people working on my deck starting at 7 Am till sunset. Work was done perfectly, pricesly and better than what promised with special attention to fine details. After work was complete and fees paid, i noticed one of the posts were little loose. Marco didnt hesitate to come at 10 pm and stayed till midnight to fix it. They obviously stand behind their work. If i would be able to rate them more than 5, i would never hesitate. I will definitely use them again..."

Customers say: Quick response

"We would highly recommend DNR Construction. We met with David to discuss options for replacing our old deck. He walked us through the different grades of decking material and helped us to make the right choice for our needs. David and his team are very skilled at their craft and the quality of their work clearly shows it. Communication was clear and ongoing, and we were kept informed all along the way until the deck was completed. David and his team were very professional, honest and the most pleasant contractors we have ever worked with. We would definitely recommend them and use them again."

Deck Repair questions, answered by experts

Yes, adding railing to a deck is a great way to improve safety and your home’s aesthetic appeal. Railings can be constructed from wood, metal, or composite, and there are plenty of choices regarding design and style. Always consult local building codes before starting any building project—there are often requirements regarding spacing and height that can differ slightly from place to place.

When sourced responsibly, the most sustainable wood decking options are timber trees like redwood, pine, Douglas fir, Nootka cypress, and Western red cedar. These tree species are fast-growing with low carbon emissions. Plus, most timber woods make durable deck materials because of their resistance to rot and decay over time.

Your deck may pop, and your neighbor’s deck may not for a number of reasons. Whether or not a deck pops will depend on how it was made, the conditions it’s exposed to, and the materials. Improper spacing is a common reason for increased pressure between deck boards. Moisture penetration is another.

While the terms deck and porch are often used interchangeably, they are two distinct structures. A porch is a covered structure, usually attached to the front of a home, that offers protection from the elements. In contrast, a deck is an open, uncovered platform, often attached to the back or side of a home. Because porches have a roof, they typically require less maintenance than decks, but both features need regular cleaning and repairs to stay in good condition.

The best way to clean your decking is to clear debris from the gaps between the boards, sweep the surface, rinse it, apply cleaner, rinse again, and let it dry fully. A homemade deck cleaner made of two gallons of warm water and 1/2 cup vinegar is a simple cleaning solution for both wood and composite decking. You can sprinkle baking soda on any spots with mold or mildew, then scrub the area and rinse clean.
