"We hired Greg to redo privacy walls on our deck and he took them from generic to amazing with incredible architectural detail. The work was completed quickly and on budget. Additionally, he was respectful of the space, cleaning up each day so we didnâ t feel like we were in the midst of a construction zone. Very professional and courteous with great suggestions for finishes, and even accommodated a last minute request for a gate at the stairwell. Highly recommend and happy to provide photos of the end result."

"Anthony's workmanship is impeccable He replaced a side entrance banister/railing that was falling apart. Beautiful. Anthony also replaced stairs to my deck and also made a banister, he replaced boards on my deck. He patched a couple of holes in the walls. Everything looks amazing. His prices are fair. He was always on time and cleaned up, took away the all wood that had to be replaced."

"Nick was polite, friendly and professional. When he arrived to give me an estimate he wore a mask, which I appreciated. He texted me the night before the job to confirm he would be at my house the next morning, and he texted me in the morning to let me know what time he would arrive. He did a great job power washing my front porch and rear deck for a reasonable price. I would definitely hire him again."

"

This is the first review I've ever written and have to say Derek did a fantastic job painting my home.  Derek is a honest, hardworking guy who did a beautiful job on our home.  He was on time, very professional and was completely trustworthy!  I was not there the entire time but left the key and remote to my home with him.  He finished painting, cleaned everything up and left the house just as I would have.  My walls have rounded corners which are hard to paint when going from room to room with different colors but he did it effortlessly.  I was so satisfied with the beautiful painting he did we had him back two months later to paint the first floor of our home.  I would highly recommend using A+ Professional Painting - you will be very pleased you did!

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Yes, transforming a deck into a sunroom is an absolute possibility. Building a sunroom involves framing in the deck area with walls, adding windows, and affixing a roof. This project is not an easy task, but it does provide a stylish addition to your house. Not all deck designs support this type of renovation project, so consult a professional deck builder before beginning.

The best material for your deck depends on several factors, including your budget, location, aesthetic preferences, and the level of maintenance you’re willing to do. Wood decking, like redwood, ipe, cedar, and pine, lasts the longest, but it’s more expensive and requires more upkeep than composite and synthetic decking.

Yes, and in some cases, frozen ground may improve the digging process for footings due to sturdier conditions. It’s easier than working in muddy conditions, which are more common in the spring. Contractors may use machinery that makes this step a breeze, so harder ground shouldn’t affect the building process.

The best base materials for a ground-level or floating deck are typically gravel and crushed stone (also known as landscaping rocks). These options are inexpensive, provide excellent drainage, prevent weeds, and help minimize moisture buildup, which reduces shifting and rotting. For added stability and to evenly distribute the weight, you can use concrete deck blocks or pavers. While more expensive, concrete blocks and pavers offer a sturdier base than gravel or crushed stone alone.

Liquid rubber is great for waterproofing, but it can damage your deck if it’s not applied correctly. First, it can trap moisture in the wood if the deck isn’t completely dry before application.  Second, applying it too thickly can create a heavy, rubbery surface layer that peels and cracks under fluctuating temperatures. For the best results, ensure the wood is completely dry before application, and apply the liquid rubber in thin, even coats. A quick inspection every now and then will help you catch any issues early, keeping your deck protected and looking its best.
