"Luis and his team did an excellent job. We have a house built in 1966 with plaster walls and cast iron tub and they had a bear of a time on the demo. They made sure everything was covered and did an excellent job of cleaning when the shower stall was completed. Could not be happier with the stand up shower and their install. Highly recommend!!!"

"Brian came to our home to do a tub to shower installation. He was very respectful and reviewed what he would be doing. The project was completed within the time frame we were told. Again, he reviewed what he had done and how to properly care for the shower. It really looks great and we are looking forward to using it. Thank you Brian and rite window team. Respectfully Leslie Greeley Brewster Ma"

"Mike Bergen came to our house to discuss adding a deck to our existing porch. He helped us design a deck to fit with our space considerations in mind. His quote was very reasonable. Mike is very hands-on and came to check on progress repeatedly. Even when we made a few changes. Mike was very accommodating. We couldn't have asked for a better crew to work with. They were also accommodating and professional. The deck has enhanced our house and backyard. We would recommend Veterans Construction to any friend or family member."

Tub Shower Conversion questions, answered by experts

The cost to install a shower or a tub is roughly the same. Shower installation costs range from $2,400 to $8,800 and vary depending on the type and size, materials used, and the complexity of the features. For similar reasons, the average bathtub cost can range from $2,000 to $9,400.

Technically, yes, you can put a shower on a Roman tub, but it's not common. The vast majority of Roman tubs are standalone models. Adding a shower would involve installing a ceiling-mounted curtain rod or a custom glass enclosure, as well as redoing the plumbing, making it neither easy nor budget-friendly.

Most shower arms are ½-inch national pipe thread (NPT). It’s best to check the thread size before buying a new shower arm or showerhead to ensure everything will fit together once you’re ready to install. Remember that older homes or those outside North America may not have standard pipe or thread sizes, which can complicate installation and make it more important to check the thread size before buying.

If there are no issues with the plumbing in your house or with the city’s water lines, then it may be possible for you to increase water pressure in your shower by cleaning or replacing your showerhead. For the latter, you should look for high-pressure showerheads with a flow rate as close to the maximum available, which is 2.5 gallons per minute (GPM).

Install shower grab bars around the waist level or wherever it’s most comfortable to grab inside the shower. If multiple people will be using the grab bar, install it in a location that works best for everyone. You’ll also want to install a vertical grab bar close to your shower’s entrance to help you get in and out.
