"The website does not allow me to specify the work completed. I experienced one of the nightmares of home ownership… a leaky roof. John arrived at my home after 8PM as an emergency call. He tarped the area of leakage and returned with his sizable crew at 8AM the next morning. Upon inspection of my home, it was discovered that the chimney was cracked and pulling away due to water leakage. There was also evidence of some water damage inside. Top Rank replaced the roof and chimney. They removed the vinyl siding and everything that was hiding behind it,down to the sheathing. A slab-on-grade or slab foundation is a great option in many areas—usually in warm or moderate climates—and has been a successful foundation style for many decades. Slab foundations don’t require excavation or concrete block wall construction, so they’re the least expensive foundation type. They’re also the fastest to construct and don’t have many issues with moisture or water intrusion. However, they don’t give you extra storage space or potential living space like a crawl space or basement would, and they’re not ideal in colder areas where utility lines can freeze and frost heave can cause major damage.

It is possible for a slab leak to cause a sinkhole, but it would have to be a particularly serious leak. A slab leak causes the land under your home to erode and if there is enough movement depressions will form in the ground, potentially causing a sinkhole.

Foundation cracks that are 1/8 inch wide or less, aren’t uneven across the gap, and don’t continue widening over time are usually just normal settling cracks and don’t suggest structural issues. Horizontal cracks and stair-step cracks on foundation walls, any cracks that continue widening, are wider than 1/8 inch, or where one side juts out beyond the other, are often indicative of structural damage.
