"Sam Thank you. The installation of a well-constructed chimney crown or cap with appropriate overhang and drip edge features prevents water penetration and prolongs the lifespan of the chimney structure."

"The crew arrived on time and did a thorough job. The reason this rating isn't higher is because the crew chief had been in my house no more than 10 minutes before diagnosing what he said was a dangerous level of creosote in our chimney and recommending installation of a $1,000+ chimney liner, which his company would of course be happy to sell us. I said no, thanks. The next year I hired another service - Emener ([*** Link removed ***] - which told me that the chimney was actually in good shape and pretty clean considering how much we use the fireplace. 5 Star clearly used its promotional offer as a way to upsell an expensive add-on that I am now convinced wasn't needed. Beware of deals that look too good to be true."

"I contacted 1 hour chimney and spoke with Juliette. She was not only polite but extremely patient at explaining the process for getting the job done. Tony and his team did an amazing job at a reasonable price. I contacted 1 Hour Chimney again for some aesthetic work for the fireplace. Tony gave me the best advice free of charge which saved me a few hundred dollars. I can't thank the team enough for their service! Danielle T."

"Vincent the owner and Vincent his assistant did an excellent job. They came promptly and did the jobs on hot days, they cleaned up after themselves and in another place where they were not even working. They are also very polite. In addition to the gutter job on Angie's List we hired them to do chimney work and they did great work and sent us pictures of everything. Reliable and honest work. I do not know how the price compares with others but it sounded reasonable. Not cheap but reasonable."

"Overall, it was great experience.  They arrived on time.  One person worked outside and one inside.  A mat was laid in front of the fireplace, on the floor to make sure no soot or other dirt fell or spilled on our carpet.  A gadget with a camera was snaked up the flue to take pictures and pictures were taken on the outside of the chimney (with a 35mm camera) to show the condition of the cap.
The findings were explained and recommendations were made.
I only had the cleaning performed and took their recommendations under advisement.  I don't recall the exact amount of the service as it was almost a year ago.
The service people were clean, professional, courteous and answered all of the questions I had.  And I would definitely use them again!
They were very easy to contact and schedule the appointment.  Their in house customer service people were just as friendly as those in the field.

"The crew worked hard all day to take down my old deteriorating chimney and rebuild a new one, making sure to match the new
bricks with the color of my old ones.  I couldn't have asked for a more polite professional crew. They were great to work with.
They also put a new cap on.  Mr Jameson always responded quickly to any phone calls."

"we got a lot of ice damage and decided to replace the roof. We got 3 quotes (2 others from angies list) all seasons were in the right range - they also gave us a list of references to call which is important. I had some questions afterwards and they were very responsive. Quality of the work seems excellent ad we've had 2 monster rain storms since with no problems."

"There was a small amount of miscommunication over my appointment, they were supposed to come Weds and while I suspected they might cancel due to weather, I actually did not get a timely notification. They were able to come Thurs. and they were great, checked out the roof, sealed the base of the chimney and repaired some window flashing all within an hour. They showed me pictures of what I couldn't see and advised that I "could" get a chimney cap (which would have cost another visit and about $150 (which when you think about it, isn't bad at all) but, that given the height and diameter of chimney pipe was not absolutely necessary (not pushy at all!). I took their card, if we need anything down the road, they get the call.

Chimney Caps questions, answered by experts

Neglected maintenance can lead to odors, fire hazards, impaired airflow, and reduced range and hood operation efficiency.

A range hood is an exhaust fan for your kitchen, and several types and styles exist. They are meant to remove grease, moisture, and fumes from your stove. Although some models filter and recirculate the air, the most effective ones remove the air through a duct that’s vented to the outdoors.

You should contact a local range hood installation professional to install your range hood and do the ductwork. Prices range from $50 to $100 per hour, with the total number of hours required varying based on the project complexity. Simple installations might take an hour or two, while more complicated ones can take four hours or more.

Typically 1-2 hours, factoring in ductwork and electrical connections.

Ensures safe electrical connections and proper venting, improving kitchen air quality.
