Pieces of flashing are lifted up with clear paths for water to penetrate. I paid $3,800. Despite contacting them for months - zero reply to emails and calls. They don't stand by their work (nor will they even come out to see if this is a net new issue. Awful."

Asphalt shingles blister when air gets trapped between building materials, either within the layers of the shingle itself or in adhesives on the undersides of the shingles. As the roof heats up in direct sunlight, the trapped gas expands and creates a bubble in the roof. Eventually, the bubble can pop, leaving an exposed area of decking and underlayment.

You’re going to need a permit for nearly every roof-raising project. This is a very important step as the work you’re doing has serious safety considerations. Professionals are the ones to handle this type of work—including sourcing the permits—as they have the expertise required to perform the work safely. Insurance and warranty are usually voided if you do this work without a permit and you may even be required to halt construction and tear it down as a penalty for working without a building permit.

While two-layer torch down roofs are easier to install than three-layer roofing, it is best not to DIY the installation. Torch down roofs require expert knowledge of the application process to get it right the first time and prevent leaks or poor craftsmanship, not to mention that roof work can be dangerous.
