"Second time using B-Tec electric and I think now they are my go to electrician. I used them previously to upgrade my panel to 200 Amp and this time to hook up my new electric water heater. Both tasks were completed perfectly and fairly priced. I highly recommend B-Tec electric!"

"The RYB team delivered an excellent job for a fair price putting in a new circuit. upgrading the panel and wiring a heat-pump installation for me. They were neat, honest and respectful; answered my questions, explained what they were doing and why. They arrived when they said they would, worked hard all day in my nasty basement. And the Electrical Final Inspection... 5 Stars. Thanks"

Customers say: Quick response

"I came to know Obez Electrical through a friend's referral back in.2016. Bryant presented himself very confident, professional, well communicative and so organized! The year 2016's project was to split 2nd unit in a multifamily setting with a separate electrical pamel, rewiring the entire unit, Bryant responded my service calls whenever there is a need, that's why whenever I need eletrical work, my 1st instinct is reaching out Bryant first. This year 2023 the past week I need electrical work in a new bathroom, with permit and it needs pass town inspection. Bryant was able to get through the challenges, cuz sometimes while on the job running the wires inside the walls, electrician could be presented with a variety of problems. Bryant has strong problem solving skills on site, being attentive to detail. Bryant has very good time management. He performed the job quickly, along with good planning skills, pretty much the same time as he first came to estimate the job. Needless to mention that Bryant is so patient and he educated me the electrical codes, which gave me a clear picture of what the requirements are amd how to comply with, I believe when next week I go to town and talk to the town electrical subcode official, we can be on the same page and talk in the same language, highly appreciated! Sincerely wish Bryant big success with his ecpanding business in commercial and residential. He can definitely charm you with his superior expertise! Look no further! I endorse him! If you need further details before you hire him, I can always be reached at [email protected] Residential lamdlord, Boonton Township, Bianca Zong"

"Lawrence was extremely responsive. He came the same day that I called him to take a look at the partial power issue in my building. We ended up having to get PSEG involved before we could resolve anything. He came back a 2nd time to meet PSEG the following week. The partial power issue apparently resolved itself that same day that he was present, no actual repair was done. The next day the partial power issue resurfaced. I called Lawrence to see if he had any suggestions, which I executed, but it did not turn the power back on. It was possible that the nor'easter had caused the issue, so I called PSEG to come out again. PSEG confirmed power was running to the building. In the end, I hired a different electrician who figured out the problem was the main which needed to be replaced. Lawrence did give me a reasonable estimate for a different job in the same building. I appreciated the fact that he came the same day I called him, and that he came back several days later to meet with the electric company. I did pay him for coming out both days, but I was a little disappointed that the issue was never resolved."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

You don’t need to be an electrician to change a light bulb. You also don’t have to be an electrician to replace a light fixture with another compatible one. But, if you are installing a light fixture for the first time, it’s worth hiring a licensed professional for the job.

While a handyperson may charge a bit less, a qualified professional can make sure everything is up to code and working exactly as it should be. This is especially true for more complicated lighting projects.

Hire an electrician the same way you would an employee. Ask questions and look for a good fit. Streamline the process by using these questions to ask an electrician. It's also common to ask for a quote in writing. Don’t forget to provide all the project details to ensure there are no surprises or opportunities for added fees.

Yes, in some locations, it is required by the National Electric Code (NEC) to have a transfer switch installed for electrical emergencies. In addition to following electrical code, generator transfer switches ensure your home is fully protected during a power outage. By switching the power from the main breaker to the generator breaker, you can seamlessly operate your HVAC, lights, appliances, devices, and more during an emergency.

A circuit breaker flipping off when it detects an overloaded circuit isn’t a problem, but flipping the switch frequently can damage it and eventually cause an electrical hazard. If you’re going on a long vacation or leaving your home for the season, you should avoid turning off your circuit breaker to prevent electrical damage to your system.

Smart meters send the readings over a wireless wide area network (WAN) to the power company. This network allows sending small amounts of data slowly over long distances, which is perfect for smart meter readings that occur monthly. If you would prefer a smart meter, contact your power company and consider springing for the cost of replacing your electric meter.
