"Sami came by when promised, gave a quote better than I expected, showed up on the date promised and the time promised! The whole project of 3 tree removals took less time than anticipated and they clean up very nicely. If needed, will definitely use again. I am impressed which hasn't happened with me in a long time. Thank you Sami's Tree Service."

Customers say: Quick response

"We were very happy and impressed with the service we got from USAF. They were prompt and very very clean. There was little left from the trees taken down we were delighted that we chose this company. They're price was not the lowest or the highest of all our quotes but worth every penny. Great bunch of tree experts."

"Very professional company right from the arborist that visited to start the quoting process, he left me with the confidence that they were only ones well qualified not like others. The quote arrived by return and explained the work to be carried out and again was the only one to meet ansi tree pruning standards. My work was scheduled and the well maintained equipment and crew arrived on the day promised. They asked what were my expectations and carried out their work very respectful of my property and my neighbors when they had completed the work I was asked if it met my expectations and it exceeded them. When they left apart from a great look tree there was nothing to show that they had been there no tree litter no saw dust. I highly recommend this qualified professional company."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Salt, herbicide, light deprivation, boiling water, and burning can all help dissolve a tree stump. You can also bury the tree stump in soil or mulch to help it rot naturally. Killing a tree stump prevents future regrowth, but you may also remove it by digging it out or grinding it.

Tree removal can be quite expensive, especially for larger projects, but you can use the following tips to help keep costs down:

  • Do the yard cleanup afterward yourself

  • Choose to leave the logs on your property and split them yourself

  • Opt to leave the stump in the ground and tackle stump grinding yourself

  • Pull permits for tree removal, if necessary, to avoid fines

  • Pay to have multiple trees removed at once

  • Remove tree in the late winter or early spring during off-season

The best tools for tree removal include a chainsaw for large trees, an ax for notching and cutting down small trees, and a wedge to help control the direction a tree falls in. A hatchet can be useful for very small trees, but won’t be effective for medium to large trees.

No. Topping a tree refers to severely cutting down all its major branches and tree in a straight line. It was once recommended for streetside deciduous trees but has fallen out of practice. Topping leads to many problems, removing so much of the tree that many trees struggle to survive and become much more vulnerable to insects and diseases. Also, it doesn’t really help tree growth as once assumed and often leads to an ugly appearance of many sprouting stems in competition to become new main branches.

Since overwatering can harm mature trees just as much as a lack of water, it’s important to know the signs of an overwatered tree. If your tree’s leaves are yellowing, wilting, or dropping leaves, it’s likely that you’re overwatering. Other common signs include rotting, fungi, soggy soil, soft or peeling bark, falling leaves, and brittle roots.

If you realize that you’ve been overwatering your mature tree, stop watering and give the soil time to dry out. Then moving forward, increase time between watering sessions.
