He arrived on time, repaired the outdoor shutter and patched the hole in the ceiling in the basement to my satisfaction. He worked diligently on each task. The outdoor trim was challenging as I had a unique trim in the section that needed repair. Paul took a look at the job, gave me a piece of the trim so I could match the paint and we agreed to reschedule to finish the trim. Additionally, he did a touch up paint job on the window shutter he repaired. He was thorough, neat, and this is what I truly love...he cleaned up after himself and rehung a picture he had to take down to repair the hole in the basement ceiling. "It is with deep satisfaction that I recommend Grady?s Painting and Plastering & Construction. Mr. George Grady is a skilled craftsman. He was hired to correct long neglected and extensive masonry and window issues on a large, beautiful Presbyterian Church built in the Civil War era in Philadelphia. The property was neglected with only minimal maintenance performed over the last 40+ years. The building was in severe decline and in need of stabilization and restoration on many fronts. Cracked ledge plates were chipped out and reestablished, internal walls damaged by leakage were broken out and repaired, brickwork was repointed and in severe cases reestablished to original strength and beauty. Leaks around the base of the building were addressed to stabilize deterioration of the foundation. Large rotted window sills under beautiful stained glass windows were restored after significant masonry reestablishment due to water damage under the rotted out sills. Broken and missing stained glass windows are in the process of repair and replacement. The process started with new metal frames cast by Mr. Grady. The new frames will hold clear painted replications of the original stained glass, also crafted by Mr. Grady. Regular windows all around the church and manse were also repaired and restored. Roof leaks were accurately identified and repaired. A sagging plaster ceiling has been torn out and restored. All this work was done by Mr. Grady alone or with an occasional helper. He worked with care, expertise and respect for the original structure. The results far exceeded our expectations and have injected new life into a building on the brink. This building, owned by the Presbytery of Philadelphia, now houses a new urban ministry in a newly gentrifying area of the city. "To start--Kristine and Steve are probably two of the nicest people on the planet, and they certainly know their window treatments. I purchased a Big Deal with the hope of installing Hunter Douglas silhouette blinds in my master bedroom. Ended up using the Big Deal for less expensive Hunter Douglas blinds in my bathroom because the silhouette price was so expensive. Kristine suggested that I purchase less expensive HD blinds (Nantucket?) for my bedroom--almost did so but then decided to get another estimate for the Silhouettes. The second estimate was so much lower ($1800) that I ended up getting a third, which was also substantially lower than Window Works. Though I'm sure Kristine and Steve would have done a great job, the price difference was too great (they're the same HD blinds) and the other companies were also A-rated. I would not use them again for HD blinds, but would for other types of window treatments (i.e., drapes) with the hope that those prices are more reasonable. (Note $920 cost is for bathroom blinds. The estimate for the master bedroom was $7100)"

"The initial meeting to measure and discuss the window treatments went very well.  Chris of ABC Windows and his father have been in the business for at least thirty years first in the Bronx and now in Tuckahoe, NY. 
He was very knowledgeable about the area and the surrounding buildings and the nature of the light that my co-op receives.  I arranged for a visit to his shop where in a matter of a few hours I made my selections.  He guided me to the fabric and shade choices that enabled me to make a decision in one visit.  It was approximately six weeks from the date of my selection to the final installation.  Due to availability of materials there were two installations.  I am very happy with the results and would use them again if and when the need arises.
