"Contacted 3 chimney repair companies listed on this website. All with A ratings. Needed repair to one masonry chimney crown and possibly a replacement cap for the home oil burner vent. Above All Chimney and Masonry rep arrived on time for estimate and inspected both locations. He advised the oil burner cap was in good shape and did not need replacement. He completed a written estimates for two different methods for repairing the crown before leaving. One of the other companies never showed up. The rep from the third company never inspected the oil burner vent and tried to sell me a spray sealer treatment for masonry. Told I would get telephone call estimate. A day later received a call with an expensive estimate for cap replacement, crown repair, and sealer treatment. Contacted Above All and set appointment within a week to complete the repair. Arrived on time and completed repair quickly."

Grass Masters is a full service company providing excellence in landscaping, hardscaping and lawn care to South Jersey since 1990. We specialize in the installation of EP Henry paver patios, driveways and retaining walls, complete landscape design, installation and maintenance, and expert lawn care services. Please visit our website @ www.grassmasters.net for additional information.

"The backyard was not finished. When I called the following day Mike argued with me about it. Instead of politely asking me to send pictures or politely offering to come back he annoyingly offered to come back and check as if I was not being honest. When the workers arrived they did not know they were also working on the backyard, so poor communication within the company."

I find and remove poison ivy, poison oak and poison sumac from residential and commercial properties in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and New York. I also do general gardening and tree removal. I have reasonable hourly rates and flat rates.I already include bagging, hauling and dumping fees in my rates and I still manage to have significantly better rates than my competitors. I have a crew of up to 10 specialists I can call in if the job calls for it. I accept Check, Money Order or Cash. I offer daily discounts for retirees and senior citizens. We operate 7 days a week.

"Ali and his crew were friendly and professional! We would definitely hire him again. Our whole backyard was covered in poison ivy. They removed enough poison ivy to fill a 3 TON dumpster! We were extremely satisfied with Ali's service, and recommend him to everyone!"

Mulch and Topsoil questions, answered by experts

While organic mulch offers many benefits, it can also attract bugs looking for shelter, food, and water. Insects, rodents, snails, and slugs are often attracted to its decomposing material.

Yes, you need to add topsoil before you hydroseed to ensure the roots can grow deep. You should cultivate and add compost or amendments to your soil before hydroseeding for optimal growth. Without topsoil, your hydroseed might not take root, leading to wasted effort and money down the drain. Soil preparation is key to the success of DIY hydroseeding.

Using sand under stepping stones can be beneficial in certain situations. Sand can help level the ground and provide stability for the stepping stones, especially if the ground is uneven. It also allows for minor adjustments during the installation process. However, sand may not be the best choice for all environments. In areas with high foot traffic or heavy rain, sand may wash away or become displaced, leading to an uneven surface. In such cases, a more stable base material like gravel or crushed stone is preferable. Consider your specific landscape conditions before deciding whether to use sand under stepping stones.

Mid to late spring is the best time of year to mulch. If you do it too early in the spring, the mulch could slow down the warming process of the soil and affect how well plants grow. By mid to late spring the temperatures are usually steadying, making it an ideal time to spread mulch.

Pea gravel is a type of gravel that is generally smaller and rounder than regular gravel. It's usually made from river rock and is available in a wide range of colors. Thanks to its soft, round shape, pea gravel is more comfortable to walk on compared to standard gravel, which can have sharp edges. A drawback of pea gravel is that it can scatter more easily than other gravel types.
