The backyard was not finished. When I called the following day Mike argued with me about it. Instead of politely asking me to send pictures or politely offering to come back he annoyingly offered to come back and check as if I was not being honest. When the workers arrived they did not know they were also working on the backyard, so poor communication within the company.

You did say in your voicemail message that you were very happy with the rest of the job, and with the politeness and professionalism of our crew. This just seems to be a matter of a difference in expectations, and not poor quality work. Michael did respond to your concern the same day you called, and offered to send the crew back, even though it appears they did complete the job according to the proposal. I believe you had a conversation with the crew, and told them what you wanted done as well. I think this is just a matter of miscommunication which can easily be remedied, without the need to provide a negative review on a platform we rely on to promote our business. Steve Heiner"

This contractor did an amazing job on our property. Michael made all of the arrangements in a timely manor and delivered goods and services per our agreement. I cannot say enough good things about the outcome of this project. I have absolutely no complaints (which is rare). The landscape is beautiful and I have already received many compliments. Definitely well worth the money invested and I will hopefully have more work done by them in the future.

I contacted Grass Masters about building a new paver patio in my backyard and a thorough revamping of the landscaping in my front garden. Michael was very responsive and offered to come out to discuss it. He made some great suggestions to help us easily transition from a general notion of what we wanted to a more detailed plan that fit our target budget. The work was done in a timely fashion, and I was very impressed by the quality of the work. The area behind our garage went from being the ugliest part of the yard to the most impressive. The ~300 sq ft paver patio is beautiful, and some new stone steps were added to make it really integrate well with the surrounding features. A small paver pad was also added to reduce the size of the front garden and make it "flow" better. Again, the quality of the work was excellent. For the front garden, Grass Masters removed my existing (dead) shrubs and helped remove other roots and debris to start with a good baseline, and several new plants were added (including a dogwood and a dwarf japanese maple to bookend the garden). They even added a couple small boulders as a final touch, which we hadn't originally discussed, but it really does look nice! Overall, Grass Masters was great to work with - timely, responsive, and solid execution. The only downside I can think of is that some of the plants aren't doing particularly well despite my best efforts to keep them watered adequately. Really can't blame Grass Masters for that though - the weather has not been very cooperative, and they do offer a 6 month warranty on the plants. Hopefully I won't need to use that, but if so, Grass Masters has given me every reason to believe they'd handle that situation to my satisfaction.

Very professional and courteous (contact was Steve Heiner). The work was done when it was scheduled and the price was fair. We have quite a lot of landscaping (shrubs, trees, river rock, and boulders) and care was taken to avoid disturbing or moving anything (or if it was, it was put back where it was). This is quite remarkable and worth mentioning. We were given information explaining the work done and, importantly, what we needed to do to keep the grass-growing process moving in the right direction. It was a pleasure to work with Grass Masters and wholeheartedly recommend them.

I was amazed at how much was done so quickly & the workers didn’t leave a mess between visits. The original quote was more than I could afford & Michael helped me adjust the scope of the job so I could afford. I had pavers done for my driveway done 12 years ago. This job was to extend the driveway & you would never know the driveway was done 2 different times.

A three-day process: power washing pavers and cleaning up moss, weeds, etc. on day 1; putting down new special sand between all pavers on day 2; putting down sealer on the whole surface day 3. The before-after change was remarkable. Final result looks beautiful!

Grass Masters has been doing our weekly lawn mowing for the last two years. They've done a nice job, and overall we've been pleased. Recently, however, after a period of rain, I believe they missed one of the weekly cuts. The lawn clearly did not get mowed on the regular day, and I expected them to come out later in the week to make it up, but there was no evidence they ever did. They just came on the next regularly scheduled day. It was fine that they skipped, grass was very long but not an eyesore, however when we got the next bill, they charged us for the skipped day. We called to question the charge and spoke to Steve, who insisted that the lawn had been cut. "It would have looked like a jungle if it hadn't," was his retort, and he wouldn't remove it. I was disappointed in his response, that he took his crew's word over ours and wouldn't even consider removing the charge. Even if the lawn had been cut, it certainly was not to our satisfaction; it was a $50 charge for essentially nothing (we can always tell when they've been out, even if we aren't home when they show up; the lawn looks good). So my advice if you hire them is to carefully watch your bill, and call immediately if they don't show up on their scheduled day, even if it's a rain day, and find out when they are coming to make it up.

"I am really disappointed that you would use this venue to attempt to resolve this. We were very responsive when you had a question about the cut, and explained that you were confused about the date. The week you refer to was the previous weekend, and that's because it was raining. We were out on Monday, and returned again the following Saturday to insure the lawn was cut for the Memorial day holiday, and to get the lawn back on the regular schedule. We have never missed a cut for you, or any of our customers for that matter. Our crew is quite familiar with your lawn as they have been servicing it from the beginning. They told me quite certainly that the lawn was cut. They do an incredible job for us, so yes I took their word for it. I think you are mistaken, and am really surprised that you would use this platform, which we clearly rely on to further our business, to try to get a $50.00 credit. It would have been nice for you to use this for all the times you told me personally what a great job we are doing."

Initial planting was okay although quality of plants was marginal. About 20% died within months and some were replaced with cheaper types. The following spring (2018) additional plants were dead. Promises were made to replace the plants but after repeated calls - no show. We ended up buying replacements ourselves.

WOW! i was so dissatisfied with my previous "Craigslist" contractors that I decided this time I would only use top-rate professionals. I called 4 from Angieslist and interviewed them all regarding plans and price. Michael from Grass Masters was so enthusiastic and had so many alternative ideas that he made ME excited. He came with drawings, suggestions and price options. The other contractors seemed to just want to sell me what they wanted to do. Michael has excellent ratings on this site and even though he was the highest bidder on the job, I felt confident from the moment I met him that his company was the way to go. (you get what you pay for, right)? As part of his explanation, Michael explained how my current 90 degree walkway (concrete) was not functional and not the way people actually walk (like robots or something). That caught my attention. Then he went on about casual stroll and flaring mouths. I immediately bought into his ideas. His crew of highly experienced professionals took only 2 days to remove my old concrete patio from 50 years ago and transform it into a true work of art! They showed up on time and took a 1 hour lunch and cleaned up every time after they left. Not one time did I look out and see any of the 3-man crew doing nothing. They made circular cuts with doctor like precision. Michael had so much confidence in them that he did not have to be there to supervise (which worried me at first, but I quickly realized these guys know what their doing). On the 2 occasions I did call Michael during the project for general questions, he proved to me he was very much involved and new exactly what was going on during all stages of the project (later he showed me texts and pictures from his workers making sure the plan was followed. Also, most contractors demand $ up front to ensure and guarantee the project. Not Michael. He still has not contacted me for payment and I made no deposits of any kind. A true professional operation! So, needless to say at this point, I am highly satisfied and fully recommending Grass Masters to any and all homeowners seeking a truly professional and so-easy deal. My wife and I wanted to redo our front and side yard and start from scratch. Mike and his team came in and removed two dump trucks worth of dirt from the side and front of our house. They truly went above and beyond, re-using as much of what they could, and even doing some things we didn't ask for that really made an impact. Very well. We are new homeowners and have never had a contractor work for us so we weren't sure what to expect. But Michael was very helpful and dedicated to getting the job done. The first time we met, he came to our house when it was raining outside but that didn't phase him. He took the necessary measurements, answered all of our questions, and still provided us a (great) quote. I should add that he did this all at 6 PM on a Wednesday night to fit into MY schedule. No other contractor was willing to budge for which days and times they come out to provide quotes. I felt he listened to what we wanted provided experienced insight and truly made our vision for our backyard a reality.

Everything done exceeded my expectations, and Mike was very punctual and professional. He had a paver installed to widen the walkway going from my driveway to my front door. It fit perfectly with current design of the house and I received many compliments from my neighbors. He also remodeled my landscaping (including removal of a large tree stump) to make it more appealing with less maintenance required. I would definitely hire Grass Masters again for any of my landscaping/hardscaping needs.

I am extremely impressed with Mike Tous' customer service, responsiveness, attention to detail, knowledge, and leadership of his team that performed the work. The repair work was better than I had expected and performed by workers who are excellent at their craft and who quickly earned my trust that they were experienced and knew what they were doing. I obtained several bids for the work and went with Grass Masters based on their quality of work, fair price, and responsiveness every step of the way. Being an authorized EP Henry installer also weighed in on my decision. I highly recommend Grass Masters as they over delivered on the work performed and did so with excellent customer service. The work done was excellent. The job was begun as scheduled and completed in three and a half days. The crew was courteous and professional. Michael, the owner, was very easy to work with. After explaining what I had in mind , he was the only contractor I got estimates from that understood what I wanted. He suggested some ideas that were incorropated into the design that made it even better. The patio is beautiful! Will definately hire again.
