Customers say: Quality work

"They are not local to my area. Please, hire local. And this is for Angi: Try not to recommend contractors who are a significant distance away, in this case around 80 miles (and 2 states) away. Great website, appears to be professionally designed and maintained, I like what they do (judging from the content in the website) but I am outside their service area. I don't live in that area. If I owned a home or apartment in that area, I would hire them."

Customers say: Quality work

"They also retiled my bathroom floor, replaced bathroom cabinet, sheetrock, retiled portion of bathroom wall, fixed leak, replaced faucet, repaired downstairs sheetrock in bathroom, paint, spackled. Excellent, dependable, timely, gentlemen. They worked with my budget, showed up when they said they would. Never just disappeared without letting me know where they would be. I highly recommend their work and services. Thank you Val Construction."

"Miguel is a true professional. Highly recommend for paver installation projects. My first time using angi’s list and Miguel did not disappoint. Courteous and patient with every question, and I’ve asked a ton of questions before, during, and after. Super glad i chose Miguel and Cambridge pavers."

"Mark and Judy at Central Lending were the best that I have worked with in the industry, I absolutley would recommned them for your finanacial needs for your home. The were understanding and had all of the resources that we needed. They both were extremely professional and definately know the business. I will never use another provider and will HIGHLY recommend them to all of my clients (I am also a realtor). I can not say enough about this company.

"We had several companies come out to offer us a quote on replacing our old gas fired boiler. The owner of Promen, Diego, came out and explained the entire process of what needed to be done, the parts that would be used and the differences in boilers. His patience in explaining everything made us comfortable in choosing Promen and we were not disappointed with our decision. They arrived when they said they would to start work. They completed the work as promised in the time frame they stated and cleaned up after themselves. Diego even called the next day to make sure everything was fine and we were happy. That doesn't happen very often with contractors today. We would absolutely use Promen again and highly recommend these professionals."

Greenhouses and Nurseries questions, answered by experts

In most cases, wait three to five days to repot or relocate a plant from a greenhouse or nursery. That way, your plant has time to recover from any shock during the move and adapt to the conditions in and around your home. Some hearty plants may not need as long, and delicate plants might need several weeks. You should ask the professional at your nursery for a recommended timeline. Consider asking about an initial watering schedule to help stimulate root growth and promote a healthy plant.

The quickest way you can protect plants and trees from frost is to cover them with garden blankets or frost cloths. Also, bringing potted plants or trees indoors is much simpler than trying to cover and protect them outdoors. Remember to anchor blankets with something such as sandbags, fabric pins, or rocks if the forecast calls for strong winds to keep them from blowing away and exposing your trees and plants.

Adding burnt charcoal to your garden beds and plant pots can yield several benefits, but there are risks involved, too. Charcoal, particularly biochar, can enhance soil structure, improve water drainage, and increase nutrient retention. When activated, charcoal provides key nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. However, burnt charcoal, especially from briquettes, can inadvertently alter soil's pH levels and become hazardous to plants. Overall, there are better and less risky soil amendments available, such as vermiculite, perlite, or wood chips.

Minor fixes like patching leaks or repainting are DIY-friendly, but structural repairs require professional expertise.

Eco-friendly materials include sustainably-sourced woods, recycled metals, low-VOC paints, and non-toxic sealants, which reduce environmental impact. Using these in repairs promotes sustainability and can improve indoor air quality and overall building health.
