"John came to the house to provide a verbal estimate and came back timely to provide it in a detailed and signed proposal . He upgraded the entire electrical panel box and upgraded to 200 amps on time for what I considered a fair price based on other estimates I received.. In addition, he fixed a short in a light switch box for me. All work was done timely with no issues and his final price was exactly as indicated in his original estimate. I highly recommend Paulikas Electric and I would use him again for electrician services."

"We had an excellent experience with this electrician at our 120,000 sq ft office building. He came out to perform repairs and upgrades on our electrical systems and delivered truly professional, high‑quality workmanship from start to finish. His knowledge, attention to detail, and clear communication made the entire process smooth and efficient. It’s not easy finding someone who can handle large‑scale commercial electrical work with this level of skill and reliability. He showed up on time, worked safely, and made sure everything was done correctly the first time. I highly recommend him for any commercial or residential electrical needs. Outstanding service and professionalism"

"Communicated with Michael through email without any issues. Signed an agreement for work to be done and pricing. Michael scheduled a day and time and arrived exactly at the time he said. He installed two new lights on the front of my house in about an hour. Nice guy! Highly recommend!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Upgrading your Colonia home’s electrical system enhances safety during storms, supports efficient heating and cooling, and reduces fire risks from outdated wiring. Adding whole-house surge protection and backup generators keeps your home comfortable during power outages. Improved lighting and smart home features also boost convenience and security, while energy-efficient upgrades help manage utility costs—especially important given Colonia’s variable weather.

Helpful?

If your Colonia home has limited outlets, relies on extension cords, or features two-prong receptacles or cloth-wrapped wiring, it’s likely due for electrical upgrades. Visible corrosion on panels or frequent blown fuses are also warning signs. Homes with growing electrical needs—such as new appliances, home offices, or electric vehicle chargers—benefit from modernized systems tailored to Colonia’s typical home layouts and power demands.

Helpful?

For Colonia’s climate, choose copper wiring rated for wet locations, weather-resistant conduit, and outdoor enclosures designed to withstand humidity and temperature swings. Install AFCI and GFCI breakers for added safety, and use corrosion-resistant grounding components. Sourcing materials from Colonia-area suppliers ensures you get products suited to local code and environmental conditions, helping your electrical upgrades last through the area’s seasonal changes.

Helpful?

In Colonia, frequent breaker trips, flickering lights, or outlets that feel warm or emit odors are clear signs you should schedule electrical work. Homes with additions or renovations, or those built before the 1980s, often need panel or wiring upgrades. Scheduling major projects in spring or fall, when weather is milder, helps minimize disruption and ensures compliance with local permitting and safety requirements.

Helpful?

Colonia’s humid summers, icy winters, and frequent thunderstorms can accelerate rust on outdoor wiring and fixtures, especially in older neighborhoods with mature trees. Heavy snowfall often leads to downed power lines, while spring’s wet conditions can affect underground conduit. Planning electrical projects around Colonia’s seasonal weather—using weather-sealed materials and surge protection—helps prevent outages and keeps your home’s electrical system safe and resilient year-round.
