Customers say: Quality work

"The work was top notch. The floors look beautiful, like new. The prices can be stressful when you are still living in the house but Oak Tree did everything that they could to help such as helping us move furniture. I would recommend them without reservation. I am thrilled with my new floors and they are just really nice people also. Thanks Oak Tree!"

"I cannot recommend Erik and A-1 Flooring enough for their outstanding work. Over the past 8 years, they've transformed the hardwood floors in three of my houses, and each time, the results have been nothing short of phenomenal. What truly sets them apart is their ability to breathe new life into old floors. The 110-year-old floors in my current home now look as if they were just installed yesterday. Erik is knowledgeable, responsive, and accommodating making the entire process an absolute pleasure. Look no further!"

"Having never done any sort of renovation to my Saddle Brook home, I did not know what to expect. I contracted with Franco [Ribo Construction] and his small team to do a complete bathroom renovation in my second floor bathroom. They did an amazing job despite the extremely HOT and HUMID weather we had this summer. KUDOS to these incredible workers!!! I found Franco and his crew to be responsive, meticulous, and very tidy and considerate. Once the job began, the crew worked daily until the project was complete. After obtaining the necessary permits and inspections, the job took approximately 4 weeks to complete. Franco was present everyday to inspect the work before the crew left for the day. A new shower stall was built from floor to ceiling. The tiling is impeccable, every corner is perfectly cut and spacing is uniform throughout. Some of the best work is behind the walls. They gutted the bathroom down to the beams, installed insulation throughout, added recessed lighting and an amazingly quiet exhaust fan. A new porcelain tiled floor and new plumbing was installed. Licensed plumbers and electricians were used. Franco advised me on various design details [installing marble saddle and shelves in the shower; paint color; grout colors; etc.] I was also pleased with Franco and his team's attention to detail. The lights, medicine cabinet, vanity, exhaust fan, and hardware are centered perfectly. At the end of the work day the team wiped down all surfaces, swept, and generally made the place livable again. Franco and his team are very easy to deal with, super responsive, and very respectful. I would recommend Ribo Construction without reservation!"

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

A subfloor's lifespan can range from 30 years to the entire life of the house, which is often between 50 and 100 years. The actual longevity depends on the material and its protection from damage. For example, while OSB may last longer than plywood, it is not the best choice for heavy flooring like ceramic tile. The most critical factor is moisture; a subfloor that avoids water damage, mold, and termites can last for decades. However, prolonged exposure to moisture will cause it to warp, rot, or grow mold, significantly shortening its life.

What a buyer prefers usually depends on the home’s layout and which material fits the current aesthetic. The local real estate market can also dictate these desires to some extent, as do the buyer’s personal preferences. With that said, laminate can increase the resale value of a home by a tiny bit, whereas carpet does not. Hardwood increases the resale value by the highest amount.

There are many different types of carpets for you to choose from. When choosing a carpet, it’s essential to consider the following:

  • Fiber: Describes what your carpet is made of, such as polyester, wool, nylon, or acrylic.

  • Pile type: Explains how your carpet looks. Your carpet fibers can be looped, twisted, cut, or woven.

  • Pile height: Describes the length of your carpet. You can choose a low, medium, or high pile.

  • Density: Refers to how close yarn fibers are to each other.

Berber is a loop pile carpet known for its strength, durability, and distinct looped look. It can be made from a number of different carpet materials, including nylon and wool. However, Berber isn’t as soft as cut pile carpet, so it isn’t the best carpet for a bedroom (although it’s a good style of carpet for living rooms).

With that said, if you really like the look of Berber, you can still install it in your bedroom—it just might not be as comfortable on your feet as cut pile carpeting.

The difference between a 40-oz. and 60-oz. carpet is the carpet face weight, meaning the 60-oz. carpet weighs 20 ounces more per square yard. When looking at two similar carpets of the same material and type, the 60-oz. carpet face weight likely indicates higher quality and more durability due to heavier carpet fibers.
