"Not well. In general, the painting was sloppy. Globs of paint were found around the trim work. Spackle was not sanded full smooth and then painted over, leaving the walls not looking smooth. Paint was splash on the cabinets, door handles and hardware, and floors. They left debris in every room that they worked in that we had to clean. They also put chalk between the ceiling and cabinets in the kitchen when it wasn't asked for and when it looked terrible, the owner removed it and scraped the ceiling significantly, then had to be asked to fix his mess. In the end, that area looked worse than it did before the job. This is not a company that respects your house and puts care into their work to make your house better."

You can paint an old wooden fence, but make sure first to do a deep clean (ideally with a pressure washer) and inspect the fence for any existing damage. Painting over dirt and debris will cause your paint to peel. Once you’ve cleaned and repaired any minor issues, use a primer and high-quality satin paint.

Many painters determine prices for home painting jobs using a base rate per square foot. Others use square footage to estimate the amount of paint required and charge a multiple of the material cost, and some may estimate the time required and factor that in. Like any paint, the magnetic type has a shelf life. Depending on the formula and manufacturer, the paint can last between 12 months and 5 years for an unopened can. But even magnetic paint with a five-year shelf life can go bad sooner, depending on the storage location and temperature. Opening the tin and improperly resealing it also expedites expiration.

If your paint smells funky and is still lumpy after stirring, this is a sign it isn’t usable anymore.

Both a roller and a brush are effective methods for painting a chain link fence. A roller will make the job easier by ensuring symmetrical strokes and reaching the backside of the fence as well, which cuts down on paint time. However, a brush is often necessary for painting the base of the fence and near the posts due to its ease of reaching smaller spaces.

A traditional German schmear uses mortar, making it unsuitable for adherence to painted surfaces. Professionals recommend removing any existing paint before applying mortar. However, you can rough up the painted surface and clean it to test if the mortar will stick. Remember that the underlying paint's texture and color may affect the schmear's final appearance—so starting with a bare brick wall will ensure the ideal finish.
