Once the decision to move ahead with all new gutters, guards and downspouts he came the following morning and had it done that day. My mother is very pleased with the job and customer service which is no small feat. Mike even went back out before the job to determine if there appeared to be any underlying damage and was very forthright as well as the cost very reasonable. I would highly recommend this company and Mike to anyone looking for new gutters or guards. Mike even made a last minute request to move 2 of the downspouts work with no problem. "Our house is 90 years old and the basement is showing its age.  The outside staircase leading into our basement has a tendency to leak during heavy rainstorms resulting in minor flooding from time to time.  We lived with this for over 20 years and never experienced any significant losses - it was just a nuisance.  More recently, one of the cracks in our foundation (we have several) started to dampen during rainstorms.  We decided to address both issues together.

We found Quality 1st Basement Systems on Angie's List.  The sales rep looked over the situation and recommended an inside underground drain and sump pump system for the staircase and a flexible patch for the foundation.  He was able to sketch out the work on his PC and provide me with an estimate on the spot.  We decided to try this approach instead of digging up the entire foundation and waterproofing from the outside.  (One contractor wanted $20,000 for this type of work.)

We signed the contract and scheduled the work.  The installation crew arrived on time and completed the job very efficiently and very neatly.  The results have been very good.  After the wettest August in the history of NYC (we live in Brooklyn) and hurricane Irene, we have had no flooding or leakage from the repaired crack.

There was one misunderstanding during this transaction.  I was informed when signing the contract that the sump pump would have to be hooked up to the sewage system by a qualified NY plumber.  Quality 1st Basement Systems could not do this type of work.  I was fine with that, but after the installation I reviewed the sump pump manual and learned that it was against code to hook up a sump pump to the sewage system.  Opps!  I did some research and learned how to connect PVC drain pipes to the sump pump.  I drilled a hole through the foundation and connected the necessary pipes to drain it outside - the only acceptable approach.  I never brought this to the attention of Quality 1st Basement Systems and ended up saving a lot of money by doing this part of the work myself.  My recommendation is that anyone considering installing a sump pump make sure they know where it will drain and work that out in advance with the installer.

"I was able to schedule the work to be done within one week of the initial request. It wasn't an especially large job, and Ivan spent an entire day working alone, but he was careful, methodical, and precise in his work. We haven't had a large storm to fully test the new gutters, but from what I've been able to inspect, I'm very pleased with the work. My fingers are crossed that he completely fixed a gutter overflow problem that appears to have affected my home for many, many years (I'm a relatively new owner). If I need additional work done in the future, I intend to contact Ivan again.

"I inquired about having my gutters cleaned. I contacted 4 vendors via Angie's list. I heard back from three of them. U-Save Gutter's price was comparable to the other vendors. I chose to contract with U-Save Gutter's because they were prompt to reply, courteous and really appreciative of the possibility to do the work. Once I decided to go with them, they were here the next day. Said they'd be here before 12 and actually showed up first thing in the morning. They were polite and professional. I live in a townhouse. Once they saw my section of gutter tied into my neighbors, they still cleaned the gutter without adjusting the price that now included my neighbors' section. They did a repair that prevented me and my neighbor from having to replace a section of gutter - again, still the same price as originally quoted. They also tightened up a few spots. In all interactions before during and after, they were wonderful. I highly recommend and will use them again if/when needed."

"They always do a great job at a fair price. They initially had an opening the day after I put in the request but had to reschedule for Monday. They were out here first thing in the morning and got right to work and were finished very quickly. Extremely satisfied. They also didn't charge me extra for the gutter guards that they had previously installed a couple years ago. I highly recommend this company. Many of the other reviews mention no shows and lack of communication which was not my experience with them. I chatted with them through Angie's list for all communication each time I have used them (4 times total) and everything went smoothly. They can't control the weather so you can expect reschedules for this type of work."
