"I had removed the carpet from my stairs so I could stain and refinish them. Then building contractors had got a lot of paint on the steps. I needed to remove the paint before I could stain and finish them. In the process of removing the paint and staining and finishing them, I got stain on the sides and some paint came off when I removed the tape. I tried painting the sides myself but was getting paint on the steps. I decided to get a professional and went with Eagles Painting. Flavio came when he said he would and did an excellent job. He was professional and very polite. I would definitely use him in the future for all my painting needs."

Small jobs welcome

"Mike with Moxie Home Projects was great to work with! We just had our laundry room and very outdated master bathroom painted. I am so happy with the outcome! Both rooms look fresh and sleek! He was clean and professional. Very knowledgable. He had great advice to help us with picking out the right colors which really helped make our small laundry room appear larger. He even helped us with hanging up our new shelving unit! Looks like a brand new room! We will definitely be using Moxie Home Projects for our future home renovation needs! Thank you Mike for your hard work!"

"Over the years, we’ve had several rooms painted, including a two-story foyer and some repair work on walls that were previously papered. Work was done well, no mess, fair price. Most importantly, trustworthy. This company has been in business for years. You don’t have to worry about them not finishing the job or running off with your money, like some other contractors. I highly recommend."

"Nick was very professional throughout the whole process. He's punctual and he's friendly. He called the night before the work was scheduled to be performed to confirm the job details and the previously agreed-to price. The morning of, he and his two workers (I think their names were Gary and Steve) arrived on time, worked efficiently, and did a nice job. Nick painted the door, and then left for a while, letting his two workers do the rest (was a two-man job). He came back at the end to make sure everything went well."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

The best time to paint your deck is when temperatures are neither too cold (below 60 degrees) nor too hot (above 85 degrees). Always paint your deck when there’s no risk of rain. For fast-drying paint like acrylic or latex, ensure your deck can dry for at least four hours. Oil-based paints take longer to dry and may require 48 hours to completely cure.

Deck staining or painting safeguards wood against the elements through its protective layer, enhancing decay resistance, prolonging structural integrity, and improving visual appeal.

Generally, these steps are included in exterior house painting:

  • Prepping and protecting the areas not being painted

  • Scraping away loose paint

  • Cleaning off dirt, grease, and debris

  • Caulking gaps and openings

  • Priming with a quality paint primer

  • Painting the prepared areas, including trim and accents with chosen paint finish

  • Adding a second coat

  • Cleaning up the site and disposing of tape, plastic, and drop cloths

You have a couple of options when choosing a durable pool deck coating. Epoxy is common and offers excellent stain and water resistance. Epoxy also withstands high temperatures and UV lighting, making it ideal for sunny spots. You can also add a coating to cement, which significantly lowers the temperature of the concrete, is environmentally safe, and makes cleanup a breeze.

You’ll want to avoid excessively hot or humid conditions, so it’s best to apply your stain in late spring to early fall. It's also important to watch the weather forecast and aim for days when there isn’t rain expected for at least three days. For new decks, allow the wood to season beforehand for at least four to eight weeks.
