"I was impressed with Kathleen. She was willing to travel and work with me. Her professionalism and "off the top" ideas for my place were great. However, I chose to go with the sister of friend. Nothing toward Kathleen and her abilities. I highly recommend her and hope that my project with the sister goes well, because I gave up an excellent designer."

"I had a great experience using AG Design Studio for my kitchen renovation. Alicia was great at designing our kitchen and really got the style and look that I was going for. She helped us through all the selections including cabinet door style and color, crown molding design, island options, sink and hardware. We also got our countertops and vanityâ s from AG Design Studio (quartz) which was the best decision we made thanks to Alicia! The selection process and installation went smoothly without any issues. We couldn't be happier with our new kitchen! I would definitely recommend AG Design for your next kitchen renovation. Alicia would be awesome at helping you turn your ideas into your dream kitchen! She helped guide us in the right direction and informed us on the different types of material. Highly suggest giving this team a call! You wonâ t regret it!! You could see our final product in the photos attached."

"I have used Richard and Plumberry designs for two major renovations- a kitchen and master and guest baths. In both cases, Richard was able to come up with a new design layout to make the spaces more open and functional. The finishes he selected were beautiful and the process was so seamless with him project managing the contractor and deliveries. I would not hesitate to use Richard again and highly recommend them."

"As this was our second installation by Refeather Your Nest, we knew what to expect. Michelle Gonella, who we'd worked with before, clearly knows window shades and decorating -- she's quick to suggest alternatives that make sense, whether in style, color, or operation. She also keeps up on new products, can describe how the new products are better than older ones, as well as how the new shades operate and should be maintained. Michelle is also good at suggesting styles and colors that blend in with furniture and paint colors, whether they are new or existing furniture/paint colors. So she makes it possible to add shades to an existing room that work well without requiring full redecoration of an entire room -- good in creating less upheaval and good in controlling overall cost. From our discussions with her, she's also very knowledgeable about drapes and curtains, not just shades. She has been very helpful and great to work with both times we've consulted her and used her service."

Interior Design and Decorating questions, answered by experts

It’s unnecessary to tip holiday decorators, and most professionals won’t expect it, but it’s a nice gesture to show your appreciation for their work. If the expert goes above and beyond to keep your delicate decorations safe, or they’re hanging your exterior lights and putting out lawn decorations in freezing temperatures or inclement weather, a tip between 10% and 20% of your total will be appreciated. Large jobs that include interior and exterior work are also good opportunities to tip, especially if your expert is performing a rush job close to the holidays.

British architect John Nash is credited with creating the Italianate style of architecture. The style was further popularized in the U.S. by landscape architect Andrew Jackson Downing and architect Calvert Vaux. The style spread across the U.S. due to Downing’s popular book on the style and the availability of plans and materials due to the mass production of the Industrial Revolution.

Current trends in custom furniture design are heavily influenced by a desire for sustainability and functionality, often incorporating reclaimed or eco-friendly materials. There is also a focus on multifunctionality, allowing pieces to adapt to various needs and spaces.

Professionals often use extra materials that aren’t included in traditional tree decorations, like pins and more expensive wired ribbon that can be carefully shaped. But even without these elements, you can improve your decorating by taking a few professional cues.

Always start by picking an overall theme, including colors, types of ornaments, and the overall feeling or message you want to create. Fluff your tree to its fullest potential, and include a generous amount of garlands, lights, ornaments, and bows to complete the look. Professional trees tend to be very “full” and well-balanced, with only a couple of ornament types to help the decorations flow.

When you think about Arts and Crafts-style homes, you probably think of a Craftsman house or a bungalow-style Craftsman. Craftsman is one of the major styles developed during the Arts and Crafts movement, but it checks most boxes. Craftsman houses have low-pitched roofs, exposed rafters, open floor plans, and stunning wood finish.
