"I purchased a multifamily house with 2 stories. The 2nd floor had 1 inch original hardwood from 1920 that laid on the floor joists so you could hear every footstep downstairs and my tenants almost moved out. I hired Cesar to take on a tedious and technical ceiling soundproofing technique for the apartment using RSCI rubber clips, hat channels, insulation, and making the 1st floor airtight. I was so impressed with how he was able to juggle handling my tenant for 2 weeks, compensating for delayed shipping by driving 3 hours to New York and picking up the materials himself to make sure we meet the deadline, redoing 1 entire room at his loss and not charging me for it because the original technique we tried did not work, and listening and working with me to make sure we didn't miss any details that would cause sound transfer (and this was impressive because I am very detail oriented). My tenants moved in and were very impressed by the finished looked of the new ceilings and crown molding. We saw a sound improvement of about 15 STC in both airborne and impact noise. It cut down sound transfer by 2/3 in the 1st floor apartment. I will be adding rubber underlayment upstairs underneath the new flooring to completely block out the rest of the impact noise that transfers from the floor above to the walls downstairs that support it! I'll be calling Cesar and his crew again."

"I hired John and he was a nice guy, but was unclear about what I was paying for so we clashed with regard to the work. After paying $800 in advance, he utilized $630 of the proceeds and after a disagreement, his partner walked out of my home while I was upstairs resting. I went downstairs to see if his partner needed anything and this is when I saw he had left with my heated garage and lower door to my home open and never said anything which jeopardized my home. They left owing me $170 and after several messages, he never returned to finish the job or return my balance of $170. Had I known he was sensitive with regard to his work product, I would not have said anything and waited until he completed the work. The disagreement evolved around him painting my ceiling in the garage which had ceiling holes. John indicated that this was the way he worked 1) he would use good paint to coat and paint the ceiling holes, 2) plaster, 3) sand, 4) prime and then 5) paint again. I felt he should plaster and prime prior to utilizing good paint. I never witnessed someone painting holes before plastering. After four (4) months, I am still waiting for my balance and Home Advisor has not been helpful in securing the balance of my funds. Nevertheless, besides this mishap, his work is pretty nice and I would recommend to friends and ask that he complete the job "prior" to making any payments because there is a possibility you will not reimbursed after giving him the money for the incomplete work."
