"Kason is truly the best. Not only does he answer every time we call for any issue, but he or Connor, show up the same day which is huge when you run a small business! We needed a walk in freezer repair at our catering business- Kason was there on Wednesday to investigate, called me the same day with an estimate and we had the install on Friday. He is meticulous, precise and very knowledgeable. Kason has checked in the last few days to make sure things are still running smoothly and the freezer is doing its job- where can you find better customer service? I know we are a CRS Mechanical customer for life now."

"East Coast Plumbing and Heating provided us with a great service on a big job of replacing our 30 years old furnace. Dylan was very accommodating and explained the process in a great detail. His estimate for the job was honest and fair. Dylan and his crew did the job in one day and did an excellent work for a reasonable price. We are very happy with this company and we will work with them in the future. I highly recommend East Coast Plumbing and Heating."

"TCC is as good as it gets. After several issues with our GC and the plumber he used, I insisted that we use ours to fix everything that was messed up and/or flat-out wrong in our house. He agreed and I immediately called TCC. First, Joe is the best when it comes to boilers and plumbing issues. He is extremely knowledgeable and very patient when someone like myself, who knows absolutely nothing about boilers, ask a LOT of dumb questions. He fixed an issue that we've been having since we moved into the house last summer - one that our GC's plumber has been to the house on three different occasions to fix and only made worse. I've recommended TCC to clients who needed boiler repairs, plumbing updates and such in their homes and all have been equally as pleased. Are they cheapest around? No. But I've found that, when it comes to contractors, you get what you pay for and if paying a little more means I'll have good service and it'll be done right the first time, then I'll pay it every time. TCC rocks!"

"While we didnt hire them, the company contacted us right away and were available within an appropriate timeline. The coordinator was friendly and reassuring and had we not had someone lined up I would have felt very comfortable moving forward with this group. They were transparent about their pricing and displayed confidence in their capabilities."

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

If you want to have hot water in your home and part of your plumbing system, you'll need a hot water heater. An alternative may be to heat water as you use it, such as by boiling what you need on the stove. But that's much less efficient and takes considerably longer than hooking up a water heater. Another option is to rely on appliances, such as a dishwasher or washing machine, that heat the water themselves.

Unless they are connected to the same system, boilers and water heaters will both need their own expansion tanks. The only case they wouldn’t have separate expansion tanks is if the boiler is pulling double duty and managing a heating system while also supplying hot water for a home. In which case, you may not need a hot water heater.

Hydronic and standard electric baseboard heaters differ in how they operate, their cost, and their performance. Standard convection heaters use electric coils to heat the air directly, while hydronic heaters warm a contained liquid like water or oil, which then radiates heat into the room.

In terms of cost and efficiency, hydronic heaters usually have a higher upfront price but are more energy-efficient and cheaper to run over time. This is because the heated liquid retains warmth, allowing the heater to continue providing heat for a while after the thermostat turns it off. In contrast, electric heaters provide heat more quickly but are less efficient.

Ultimately, the better choice depends on your priorities. If you need a room to heat up fast and have a lower initial budget, an electric heater might be suitable. If long-term energy savings are more important and you don't mind a slower heat-up time, a hydronic heater is likely the better option.

If you go to turn it counterclockwise and it won’t turn anymore, it’s open. Like most other valves, you should be able to turn a radiator valve counterclockwise (to the left) to open it and clockwise (right) to close it. To close a radiator valve, turn it clockwise until you meet some resistance and can’t turn anymore, but do so carefully to avoid breaking the valve.

You can replace baseboard heaters with many other types of HVAC systems, including forced-air furnaces, hydronic heating, and heat pumps. Each one has its advantages and disadvantages, so the best choice for you will depend on your budget, preferences, and the design of your house. If you aren’t sure which option is right for you, ask an HVAC pro for guidance.
