I am writing to express my deep disappointment with the service provided by McGinley & Sons. Despite multiple attempts to resolve this issue, I have yet to receive the promised refund for work that was never completed. As a cancer survivor undergoing surveillance scans, the refund would greatly assist in covering my medical expenses. The lack of response and follow-through has added unnecessary stress during an already difficult time. In addition to this, I had to hire a lawyer to recover my down payment, which cost me additional money. Moreover, he did not offer to compensate me for the extra expenses, including hiring an electrician to install a wire for the heat pump he could not install. Despite repeated attempts to have the deposit returned, I finally received it after engaging legal assistance. I hope this review will encourage McGinley & Sons to address this matter promptly and fairly.

Mcginley and Sons were excellent. Professional, knowledgeable, and pleasant to deal with. We were without heat in our home for over 48 hours and they were determined to replace furnace ASAP which they did indeed accomplished. We would highly recommend Mcginley and Sons for furnace and AC unit.

I had to have the whole job re-done. It was a bad experience. They did the system wrong, probably because they were not that familiar with the product. There was a total breakdown between the manufacturer and the installer. They agreed to give me a token payment of $2,500 because it cost me almost $8,000 to correct what they did in addition to the $7,000 I paid them.

They were prompt and personable, however they did not seal all of the duct work around the furnace properly so it whistled.  I had to seal it myself.  I had a humidifier installed as well and it has never worked.  I have called several times and scheduled appointments for them to come and make the repair and every time they cancel.  I am going to have to hire someone else to do the work.

Sloppy, not very professional.  Too much of a hurry to get the job over with.

They replaced my heating furnace. Did an ok job with replacement. But totally unprofessional. Promised my to provide a free A/C and heater tune up after 6 months, But even after 50 calls, he never showed up. Always kept on telling he is coming, but never did. I  would never recommend this company for any job.  I feel for them because they were cheap. Not very cheap either, I had another guy who was willing to do for almost the same price, but all the promises these people made about there service being so good and all made me hire them and i regret that decision. Its better to pay a little more and get the job done by someone who is more professional.

I contacted McGinley & Sons after searching Angie's List for highly rated HVAC specialists. The owner, William McGinley came down quickly to give us an estimate. We were quoted a reasonable price  and booked an appointment to do the job two weeks later. Bill arrived in a timely manner with two other workers and completeted the job in a few hours. He also submitted on our behalf the warranty registration to Goodman Air Conditioning and Heating. We are very pleased with the job they did and would highly recommend McGinley & Sons.

I needed to either have my existing furnace repaired or replaced. My furnace I currently had was over 20 years old and had visible holes in it. I around for 4 estimates. Two companies were on holiday break. Two companies responded: McGinley and Sears.Bill McGinley came over within two days of my initial call to give estimates on repair/replace. Bill McGinley indicated that to repair would cost $1800 and to replace would run $2800. The estimate from Sears was more than double that of McGinley on the replacement and they said that they would not recommend repairing at all. Bill McGinley came by again to answer questions that we had regarding connections, etc. and answered everything to our satisfaction. We also gave him an AngiesList coupon and asked if the 10% indicated would be on the installation or equipment. Bill said that it would be applied against the entire bill! What a nice surprise! He immediately took off $280 and gave us a new estimate and said that he was available later that week to install. He arrived within the 30 minute window he had given us and pulled out the old furnace, replaced it with a new, energy-efficient unit and left the basement tidy and clean. I am thoroughly happy with the experience. Bill has assured us that should we have any questions about the unit once we need to use it, he'll be more than happy to come out to accommodate us.  The entire process, from first call to installed unit took 9 days; 7 days from the estimate to the install.  When I thought they would be here for most of the day, they removed the old unit, installed the new unit and cleaned up after themselves in under 3 hours!
I would definitely recommend this company and would use them again.

When we were ready to build a new house, we had intended to install a geo-thermal system because of its extreme energy efficiency, but when the bids came in, the cost was too high. On the very day we were researching what our next best option would be, Bill McGinley (who we had interviewed a month before, but who does not install geo-thermal) called out of the blue with an idea for us to consider. He was at that time installing his first two Acadia Cold Climate Heating and Air Conditioning heat pump system, and thought we should consider it. He gave us the website, and we did our research, and it was exactly what we needed. About the same energy efficiency as the geo-thermal system--at one third the cost. We hired Bill. Bill and his team worked in brutally cold, windy and icy conditions to get this complicated high-tech system installed. Also, because our timeline was left short because of the repeated weather delays, they had to do it all with the carpenters, electricians, plumbers, insulators and me all underfoot and in the way. Yet they were friendly and accommodating toward everybody and kept the environment upbeat and amiable. Which is not to say the job was without its surprises and obstacles. When Bill got a better idea of the size and shape of the house, and how well it was insulated, he downgraded us to a smaller system that saved us more than $2000. But, then that same super-tight insulation also required us to have an air exchanger installed to keep fresh air flowing through the house. They installed that, and still came in well under-budget. I have to say, though, that through this house-building experience, I learned a lot about just how badly the building industry is hurting. Most of the companies bid low and campaign hard to get the contract, and then charge you frightfully high time-and-materials for every little thing they can convince you was not part of their contract, and those bills don't come in till near the end of the job, destroying your budget and your trust. Not Bill. If a change was no big deal, he just did it. Even for some that were a big deal--like having to move the air exchanger exhaust vent because the building inspector did not understand that it was simply exhausting house air into the garage--he did not charge extra. If a really costly change had to be made (like the air exchanger), he could be talked down to a price that made me feel better about it. When I decided to make a change--like expanding from two to four zones, Bill gave me a great price. If I had a complaint of any kind, Bill would talk it through with me until it was resolved to my satisfaction. Bill has been back several times to tweak the system (or reset it when we failed to read the instructions. He is unshakably patient, kind and cheerful. We could not be happier with McGinley and Sons and would enthusiastically recommend them without reservation.
