"My experience with sales was very good as well as the quality of the gutters and installation. My only negative was that the installers wanted to route the drainage on the surface instead of tying the down spouts into the ground system like my older gutters as agreed with sales. I had to physically dig at the base of the old down spouts to expose the drainage piping system and suggest how they could tie into it to the installers and convince them that it was doable."

"The entire project went as scheduled, from the initial estimate through completion. I decided to add more gutters and downspouts to the house just two days before work started, and that work was completed on time to the original schedule for a fair price. I would certainly hire this company again."

"From estimate to installation, Brothers that just do Gutters provided outstanding customer service. The project estimate was detailed and clearly explained. All my questions were answered. "We had a tree growing out of the left corner of our second story gutter. Caio Lanes from Lanes Gutters called and we set up a day and time. He arrived a little after our appointed time but he'd called to say he was going to arrive later. He went right up the ladder and took pictures of the gutter and tree. The 12" to 15" tree was growing in a large amount of damp soil like debris that was clogging the gutter. Clearly we needed to have the entire gutter cleaned. Caio took off the leaf filters, removed the debris, reinstalled the leaf filters and worked his way across the 36 feet length of the front gutter. He worked quickly, had a nice personality and my wife and I are very pleased with the quality of his entire approach. We're going to have him back to clean more sections of our gutters."

Gutter Repair and Replacement FAQs, answered by experts

If you don't repair your home’s gutter leaks, water or the gutters themselves can damage your home’s siding, roofing, foundation, and landscaping. Untreated leaks encourage mildew, mold, and rot, depending on the type of siding material. The foundation, chimney, window frames, and drywall can also crack over time, leading to costly repairs.

Icicles don't necessarily mean your gutters are clogged or bad, but they can indicate an underlying issue. While clogged gutters can cause icicles to form, the problem could also be an ice dam on your roof from poor insulation. In that case, melting snow can refreeze in the gutter even without a clog. Regardless of the cause, the weight of the ice can damage your gutters or even rip them completely off the house. If you are unsure of the underlying problem, it's best to call a roofing company to assess the issue and implement a permanent solution.

It is possible to repair your own gutters, but we don’t recommend it. First, gutters need to sit at a precise slope to direct water toward the downspouts but also appear level from the yard, and this task is challenging to get right through DIY gutter repair. Second, any mistakes you make could be costly if they cause water damage or foundation damage. It might seem unnecessary to spend $400 on professional gutter repair, but it pales in comparison to what you might pay if you make a mistake doing the work yourself.

Unless you've chosen to install underground downspouts, your gutter downspouts shouldn't touch the ground. If they come into contact with the soil or pavement next to your home, rainwater can back up into them during a storm, preventing them from doing their job effectively. Instead, aim to have your downspouts end about 12 inches from the ground.

Absolutely—and lots of it. Overflowing water from your gutters can damage your siding and your roof. All of the moisture getting into the cracks and crevices of your home can lead to mold or mildew problems down the line. In addition, when water pools around your home, it needs a place to go—and sometimes it ends up inside the house, creating a very unwanted flood.
