"Hooperâ s Tree Service did an excellent job on quoting on the project, giving us a timeline on when they could fo it and executing the job at a very high level. "I had a dead 70 foot Ash tree that threatened a new garage. From Angi’s list I interviewed four Arborists. Leafy (leaf) was the least expensive, had the smallest footprint on my property and was in and out in a day. He did everything I asked and cleaned the area when complete. I highly recommend him."

Customers say: True professional

"Everything was great from start to finish. Very reasonably priced. The huge pine we had removed was over 100 feet tall. They had all the necessary equipment to skillfully cut down the tree. It was amazing to watch. We highly recommend Hooper's Tree Service. George E."

Small jobs welcome

"We just moved into our home and wanted to get our backyard graded. Kyle came by right after I talked with him and gave us a great quote. He had his crew there shortly after. He frequently checked in while the project was going on, and addressed any questions and concerns I had. Tony did a fantastic job with the grading, and was extremely knowledgeable and professional. After this we were so pleased that we had them also spread loom and put in some steps. Leo did a great job spreading and smoothing out the loom. All had great work ethic, and it was obvious they knew what they were doing. After the job was done they still checked in to make sure everything was good, and anytime I had a question they were quick to respond. Would highly recommend K&J. 5 stars!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Late winter is ideal, but if you’re pruning apple trees in the spring, prune them as early as possible in the season. You want to ensure your tree is just creeping out of dormancy and hasn’t started pushing out new growth. If you prune your tree too late into spring, you generally won’t see results until the following year.

That said, there’s no pruning season for unhealthy growth. Remove dead, dying, or diseased branches as soon as you notice them, regardless of the time of year.

Tree roots don’t necessarily break through concrete on their own, but they can certainly take advantage of existing cracks, even very small ones. As roots grow, they expand the cracks, making them larger and leading to serious and costly foundation damage. It’s a good idea to have repairs on any foundation cracks you’re concerned about.

Yes, tree roots can regenerate after they’re pruned or cut. In fact, trimming can stimulate new growth, especially in healthy trees. The tree’s roots can still grow back even after a tree is cut down, (and learning how to get rid of regrowing tree roots is a separate feat). Still, if you don’t wish to harm a tree, pruning the roots should be done with extreme care, and ideally by a professional.

You should avoid cutting off the top of mature cherry trees. This process is called tree topping, and it’s not recommended for cherry trees—or any trees, for that matter. Tree topping removes between one-third to half of the length of the tree trunk, resulting in structurally unsound, fruitless suckers. The only exception is for saplings. Young pie, sour, and tart cherry trees that are over 30 inches tall in the fall or winter before the tree blooms can benefit from heading cuts.

The exact answer to this question depends on which region of the country you’re talking about, but according to various tree counts, some of the most common types of trees in the United States include red maple, Douglas fir, quaking aspen, loblolly pine, and sweetgum.
