"Hooperâ s Tree Service did an excellent job on quoting on the project, giving us a timeline on when they could fo it and executing the job at a very high level. I was not able to be here when they came to do the work and trusted they would get the job done and they exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend Hooperâ s tree service! 5 Star for sure."

"I had an excellent experience with Leafy Tree Care and would not hesitate to recommend them. Scheduling was flexible and easy to coordinate, which made a big difference for me. They arrived exactly when they said they would and immediately got to work. The work ethic was impressive; Leaf worked hard all day without cutting corners and stayed focused until the job was done. The owner, Leaf Spyropoulos, really stood out. He was friendly, courteous, and took a genuine interest in making sure everything was done right. That kind of personal attention is rare and shows in the quality of the work. The cost was very competitive, especially considering the level of care and effort involved. I felt I received excellent value in both workmanship and professionalism. It is rare to find a vendor you can truly trust to do quality work, but Leafy Tree Care is exactly that kind of company. I would gladly hire them again and recommend them without reservation."

"Needed 7 trees taken down, 1 large beech, a pair of large maples, several dead tree trunks. Access was tight and limited space to drop trees into. McClure's brought a crane, squeezed it into the driveway, and parked the chipper truck next to it. They flew the cutter into the trees from the top down using the crane The cutter dismounted and tied the tree branches and trunk parts to the crane before cutting them off. The beech was behind the garage so the crane lifted the cut pieces over the top of the garage and house and set them next to the chipper. Loaded up the logs, chipped up the branches, cleaned the job site before they left. Job very well done and I will definitely hire these guys again the next time we need trees taken down."

"Amazing service! I hired Derek for tree stump removal and to clear brush and saplings on my property. He was fairly priced, professional, and efficient. I would definitely refer him to friends and hire him again for additional services. Overall, very impressed."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

For trimming trees, your best tool is a pair of pruning shears or loppers. Both options work best for branches that are under 3 inches in diameter. Trimming trees with a larger diameter may require a robust tool like a small chainsaw or a handsaw, so take into account your tree’s diameter when deciding between tools.

You should plant trees at least 15 to 20 feet away from your house, and more if the tree will grow large and spread its limbs. Trees pose several dangers to houses when planted too close. They can litter the roof with leaves and branches, create fire hazards, make a ladder for larger pests, and even damage the foundation as their roots grow.

Most plum trees are pruned into a vase or open wine glass shape. They’ll have a shorter central leader (the trunk) that supports three to four main branches. Of course, this isn't always the case. If you have a European plum tree, you can grow it in a pyramid shape. Let the central leader extend the length of the tree and prune smaller branches to create the pyramid.

In most cases, your neighbor is responsible for roots from their tree that cause damage to your property. If your pavement, the foundation of your home, or a fence is damaged by roots from a neighbor’s tree, you likely will have legal recourse for financial relief. While it’s better to notify your neighbor of any problems you notice as soon as they arise to avoid costly damage, there are some instances where filing a civil suit is your only recourse. Your homeowner’s insurance company might wish to do so on your behalf if you file a claim.

We don’t recommend DIY tree trimming for a few different reasons. First, the tools required to trim a tree can be costly, up to $1,100 or more, for the ladders and specialized saws needed.

Safety is another concern, especially when working with more mature trees. As a guideline, you should only DIY tree trimming when branches are less than two inches in diameter. Any more, and the safety risk becomes too high, which could lead to catastrophe. For this job, it’s safest to let a tree-trimming professional assess the work needed.
