"Water Solutions installed an interior drain tile system around our full basement and installed a double sump pump system with a battery backup. After the recent storms our basement remained totally dry. I definitely recommend them."

"Good. The company did a test reading of the radon level in our home in mid February.  The technician who set up and later read the tester were timely, knowledgeable and very professional.  Based on the findings of that test, the technician gave us an estimate of the cost of installation.  We scheduled a date in early March to have the system installed.  Approx an hour before the installers were due, the company called to cancel due to weather.  All items in the garage and basement that had been moved out had to be put back until we could find an alternate date.  The company scheduler found a time two weeks later.  The installers came on time and completed the job in an efficient manner. They also were knowledgeable and professional.  Everything was cleaned up from their work and we were told how the system worked and to call if we had questions.  We paid for a post installation test so the test machine was set up.  We were to have received a call the following day as to when the test would be read.  That call didn't happen and after 3 weeks we called Thrasher and someone was sent to set the machine.  The follow-up reading was today.  We are pleased that the radon level in our home has dropped significantly.
Other things of note:  With the estimate, a sketch of where the pipes run to the outside is included.  The pipes are represented by lines in the sketch however the pipes are large, which of course they have to be to draw out and vent the radon gas.  We hadn't given that any thought so it slightly changed how things are arranged in our basement.  The other thing we weren't prepared for was the sound the fan makes operating the blower.  The gas is vented to an area outside a bedroom in our home.  There is noise (like a hum - not terribly loud but noticeable) associated with the blower and fan which we will get used to in time.  We did learn today there is a muffler that can be purchased to reduce the sound.

"Great! Crew used plastic sheeting to contain dust. Constantly removed debris. Floated new concrete over the drain tile to match existing floor. Sump pump and discharge line works perfectly. No more ground water problems."

"The first one they ordered was the wrong kind so this delayed the installation. The plumbing company they used had to come back after the installation because there was a leak at the wall. Thank goodness it was in the garage. I was not happy that I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades which were not covered by my policy."

"Customer service and project ideas were great! They were flexible with pricing and not restrictive on overall project ideas (I came up with an idea to combine two separate pipes into one french drain system, which they were more than willing to do) in order for me to save on cost. I definitely recommend Ram Jack of Omaha!"

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

Food grease, soap buildup, paper products, and tree roots often cause serious clogs.

The best way to unclog a bathtub drain is to pour a pot of boiled water down the drain, being careful not to splash yourself. However, take precautions, as boiling water can damage PVC pipes and joints. Follow up with ½ cup of baking soda and ½ cup of vinegar. Cover the drain with a small sink plunger and let it sit for 15 minutes. Pour boiling water down the drain again and replace the drain stopper.

Yes, frozen pipes can cause a toilet to stop working correctly. If the pipes are frozen, water cannot flow, which can lead to two main problems. First, the supply line to the toilet tank may be frozen, which prevents the tank from refilling with water after you flush. Second, the drain pipe itself can freeze, blocking water from flushing away. As a temporary solution for a non-refilling tank, you can manually add water, but this is not a long-term fix. To clear a frozen drain pipe, you can try pouring warm water into the toilet bowl or tank and then flushing, as the warm water may help thaw the ice blockage. Ultimately, the best course of action is to unfreeze the affected pipes to restore your toilet to full functionality.

No, you should not see water in a sewer cleanout. If you do, it could indicate that you have a block or leak in your main sewer line—which can cause sewage to back up inside your home and potentially flood your yard. Your best bet is to call a local sewer cleaner if you notice any water or sewage around your cleanout.

If your kitchen is flooding, first turn off the water supply and electricity before entering the room. Next, focus on immediate flood control by cleaning up any standing water with a sump pump or wet-dry vacuum to prevent long-term water damage to your home. Open your windows and run any dehumidifiers you have handy. Finally, call a professional plumber to help find the source of the flood and repair it.
