"We contacted Doerr Enterprises this last fall to trim our tree in our front yard that was looking a little sad. He was very prompt to get to the job, get it done and cleaned up! We have also hired him for the first snow we got so far this year and he cleaned our drive in no time! Would highly recommend his services!"

Small jobs welcome

"They were 1 of the 2 companies suggested. Reached out to both and only S&C responded. The young man called back with in a few hours, came to the house, gave us a estimate. We thought that was a fair price and hired him on the spot. This young man did a wonderful job, gave us the backyard we loved and it only took him 2 days to clear a severly over grown yard and to clean up a large tree that fell. He worked by himself, in the heat and never complained. He was always pleasant, smiling and very courteous. I would hire this young man again as he has a great work Ethics. On a scale of 1 to 10 ,he rates a 20 in my book. Will refer him to family and friends with no hesitation."

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

Environmental considerations include native plant selection, wildlife habitation, erosion prevention measures, and managing water runoff patterns to protect the lakefront ecosystem.

Yes, you can hydroseed with a garden hose, but you’ll need a tank or other large vessel for mixing the slurry, then a pump to send the slurry through the hose for spraying. Making your own hydroseeding unit can work, but it’s not usually worth the effort and supplies unless you already have them.

Don’t worry if there’s a gap between cutting and planting an ideal branch. You can still cut the perfect branch when you see it. If you can’t get it in a pot or water right away, put it in a zip-top bag in the refrigerator. When you’re ready to finish the process, make a fresh cut.

The most important thing to put under a rock garden is the appropriate soil. The specific soil needed will depend on the type of plants you’re growing as well as the environment you live in. You can also put non-woven or woven fabric under the rocks to add to the garden's structural stability.

Many people have used old tires in gardens as raised beds, planters, tree rings, and DIY decor. However, these uses are not recommended due to the toxicity of many of the chemicals used to manufacture tires. These chemicals can leach into the soil and water as the tire breaks down, creating environmental pollution and health hazards for gardeners and their families.
