"Karen showed up right on time, metaphorically rolled up her sleeves, and went to work on a house that has, in addition to some humans, two cats and a Collie. Shedding machines, basically. Hair, dust, dander, mildew, cat litter in places it had no business being, Karen handled it with aplomb and good humor. Her attention to detail is amazing. Nothing gets by her. She says what she does and she does what she says. Not only that, but she's fun to be around. She's able to be a raconteur whilst at the same time destroying the stains on your grout with a toothbrush. She spent nine hours getting my house, not just back to baseline clean, but to "I just moved in" clean. No stone was unturned, no dust bunny un-vacuumed, no surface undusted. I can't say enough how great her work is."

Small jobs welcome

"Hiring a professional organizer may seem like a luxury, but those that seek one out, would agree that it is a true need at a certain juncture or transition. A professional, like Emily, will help to lessen your physical load in your environment and create a lighter more intentional feel in your home. My time with Emily was focused on that overwhelming paperwork realm of life. She helped me get my head around releasing documents, kids' homework, duplicate photographs etc.; items that can bog down our home and cause overwhelm. After three sessions with Emily, I physically feel lighter and hopeful in my space. My children have even commented on the difference. On one occasion I needed to find an item for my financial advisor and I knew exactly where to go , without fumbling through multiple boxes! I would recommend Emily, as I think she provides a much needed service for a very reasonable fee and is kind, proactive and hardworking. I hope to reach out to her again for maintenance and touch up projects. In my busy life with two young children, and my own business, I simply needed help pairing down . Emily (also a Mom of young children, so could relate with the precise season I am in) answered my call to get out from underneath it all! I would highly recommend her to help you do the same. Stephanie B, Lincoln NE."

"Greenway did concrete repair on my front porch and also poured a new sidewalk on the side of my house. They did an excellent job all-around. I highly recommend them."

House Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Smoke stains, grease buildup, mold, and water spots are common reasons for hiring professional cleaning services.

Dirty, cloudy faucets have been stained by tap water, that is "hard water." The scaly deposits you're seeing are actually signs of calcium buildup. If you have visible cloudiness on the outside, there's a high chance you have calcium buildup in your pipes that needs to be treated.

Thorough cleaning of bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and common areas, tailored to specific needs.

While a biohazard cleanup sounds like a scary process, knowing what to expect can help ease your concerns and set you up for success. It’s good to note that more than one professional might be needed depending on your situation, but that will be determined during the assessment. What you can expect during a home biohazard cleanup is the following:

  • Assessment: The first step in this process is for a biohazard cleanup professional to assess the damage. They create a report that includes the biohazard safety level, the needed damage cleanup, and the time it should take to complete the project.

  • Setup: The cleanup professional prepares the site to prevent cross-contamination and reduce toxicity risk. This process can include tarping and creating decontamination zones.

  • Removal of surface contamination: Any contaminated materials are removed from the area, starting with large materials followed by small ones. The professional can assess any floor-related damage once everything is removed from the site.

  • Salvaging items: The biohazard cleanup professionals assess which items can be saved and which are contaminated beyond the point of saving. Those deemed unsafe will be disposed of immediately.

  • Waste disposal: The next step is carefully disposing of the hazardous waste. Your professional will place the contaminated items in specific containers to keep the contamination from spreading.

  • Disinfection: The house will be disinfected and odor-neutralized. Even more minor details, like light switches and bulbs, will be disinfected so that they do not recontaminate the area in the future.

  • Restoration: Once the decontamination is complete, the last step is to restore the home. This includes repairing the damage to flooring, walls, or even the home's foundation.

No, you should never use isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) to clean flat paint or paint with any other finish. Isopropyl alcohol works similarly to a paint thinner, so it’s likely to liquify the paint on your walls and leave damaged or bare areas. For stubborn stains, try mixing one cup of vinegar or baking soda into a bucket of warm water and scrubbing very gently with a soft sponge. If the stain or soiling is pervasive, touch up the area by repainting the affected areas.
